It says in the article naming rules means it cannot be named after a person

Another story of greed ruining the lives of average people. This country has let greed run rampant and people are dying or ending up in tent cities.

So the big brains at city council asked for the public’s input on this, and then did exactly the opposite of what the public input called for. Absolutely 0 logic or reasoning in that bunch.

“Next meeting scheduled for spring 25’……People are dying because we don’t have enough housing. Let’s show a little urgency.

You’ve clearly never lived near such a facility. Garbage, needles, public intoxication, break ins, trespassing are just some of the features!

Ridiculous. Greed wins again. Developers and landlords prioritize profits over everything else, does anybody truly believe this will end well for the current tenants of the building?

What’s the point in consulting with the public if city council isn’t going to listen to them and just use their own ideas? Public servants….what a joke. More like self servants

That won’t stop them bringing in as many people as possible. They don’t care about people, just cheap labour for businesses

I live near grace gardens and the amount of people trespassing on nearby properties, break ins, and public intoxication is frankly unacceptable, ridiculous and dangerous. For the reasons mentioned, I don’t believe downtown is a good place for such an institution.

Just…no hahah this isn’t about stigmas. This about people being harassed, assaulted and businesses suffering the same. You clearly don’t spend much time around these sites

Homelessness is booming. This must be built. We’re about 10,000 units short in Guelph. This is why many single family homes house 6+ people at $1000 each, instead of an actually family living there….it can’t continue.

No money for actual human beings in dire situations, but always money for buildings. Weird

Well yeah. When the fed brings in more people than we have housing and services for, these types of problems get worse.

Over $24,000 per person for 7 months. Haha someone’s getting paid well in there
