First Nations oppose potential arrival of nuclear waste
TBNewsWatch

Both native and non native communities should be united in opposing this outrageous and dangerous scheme. The best Northerners can say, is not one nano gram of radioactive waste - now or forever!

just like the government withdrawing land and then the NWMO drilling and bulldozing the land for a radioactive underground dump before consulting with First Nations or non native communities or doing an archaeological reconnaissance first.

hopefully the approach to dealing with the homeless will proceed with understanding, adequate resources and cooperation rather than coercion by politicians and police.

Rather than let the waterfront businesses grow this will kill what little there is and the old railway station is dead before getting off the ground. Not good for parents with kids and for those who can;t afford parking.

This would never happen with a nuclear transport

Nuclear transports are immune to accidents. The NWMO tells us so

good to hear of free parking at Marina for 4 hours. Should never have wasted money on bringing in a paid parking that cost more in security than was ever collected. Now it's time to get the vendor fees down to those who want to set up for waterfront events.

what about the 9 billion dollar contract to build metro link cars in Indiana? The 4 nuclear reactors for untold billions to be built in US and tehn be dependent on Texas enriched uranium for fuel? What about the fighter aircraft from the US, again untold billions? Ford and Carney are hypocrites pretending to defend Canada's interests.

And now they want to add nuclear transports to these chariots of death. The problem is one of long term neglect since the 1960’s when freight began moving from rail to our roads

There were questions about Paper Excellence and their past record of environmental safety before the sale of the mill was cleared by the Federal Government. The extent of the discharge and the fish kill downstream is being understated. Wonder what will happen when we start finding nuclear contamination which can't be cleaned downstream from NWMO Revell Lake underground dump. We certainly can't trust governments to protect us. Great drone show but maybe it was a cover for paper excellence!

There used to be a stuffed albino moose on a porch in Jellicoe. This one probably got a dose of gamma radiation form a bypassing nuclear transport. Be a great attraction for the nuclear tourists.

Certainly doesn’t give confidence to homeowners that they will be protected from criminal activity. Unfortunately, this lack of protection will lead to vigilantism where property owners will take the law into their own hands like what is happening south of the border .

Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont his battle lieutenant were great men. Too bad Riel hadn't listened to Dumont who wanted to attack the Dominion forces while they were crossing the open prairie. Instead of defeat at Batoche we would have had an independent Metis nation in the west. Sadly, they were better fighters but ran out of ammunition

Stop the parking fees at Marina Park and increase the healthy use of both the skating rink And summertime splash pad.

Look at the members of council who parking fees at Marina Park and vote them out in the next election

The best way to ensure the safety of radioactive waste is to not transport it at all. Better still, stop producing it unless there is a solution, as recommended by the Seaborn Commission in 1998. Abandoning, millions of bundles underground is not a solution.
