Kam River Heritage Park back on table for shelter village site.

Glad common sense prevailed. The Kam river site is the only logical location. Lets get places for people to get a sense of responsibility, pride, self determination, and get on their feet; and not at the expense of area's where an influx of said demographic would be detrimental to the enjoyment, useability, or safety of public spaces. Kam park fits the prescription and keeps the status quo. Keep going and get it done.

What a waste of time, energy, and money. OPP should pay me for the waste of time to read about this article too. Give the fella his weed back.

Please get rid of the encampments. the social arm of the government should be trying to work themselves out of a job, not farming homeless downtown for long term funding and salary dollars at the expense of society.

Start cleaning it up, or get out of office so someone can do what needs to be done. The majority will gladly accept your resignation council. The current approach is humanitarian to neither the unfortunate unhoused, and the general citizenry. Tax dollars spent farming the homeless for salary and program dollars that have not realized any positive returns on that investment. Now it is unsafe for the public to use public spaces. Give the public spaces back to the public and help these unfortunate and traumatized people properly. This can't go on any more. Canada is sliding out of the 1st world in a dramatic fashion that would be comedic if it weren't such a tragedy. Get it together city admin and council. You're going to have to think outside the box, or move aside please.

Great work to the city team to get this off the ground. The deliveries of the bins will be very appreciated by many folks.

This would be a comedy if it weren't so tragic. Leadership is completely missing the mark. Not even close.

This letter is unhinged, to say the least.

Headline should read- "As with all things progress, there are some hold outs and complainers from by gone era's"

I told my wife about this, and my Smart TV just told me in a soft voice not to worry about it. The microphone only records data when I give it permission...

These new giant bins are going to be awesome! Perhaps if you can't lift the bins you should start cultivating friendly interactions with the people around you, over time as you build genuine relationships with the people around you they will help you with these things that are to physically difficult to complete, think of it like building a community for yourself, people used to do that all the time and neighbours, friends, and descendants would help people do things they can't.

Everything about this is insane, expect for the fact that a kid was playing outside. I hope she is able to continue playing outside with joy. Shame on the dog owner and shame on the police's policy of non-response.

You can't solve a problem using the same level of consciousness that created it. The government, no matter what level of funding it gets, our governments are not capable of solving it. We are all going to have to come together on this with a new framing, or the rot will continue. The government isn't coming to save us. Our institution's are failing us on all fronts. It's time for a new paradigm.

Headline should read- Society needs affordable housing; but people don't want it to affect their lives in any way. In all seriousness though, its nice to have some trees around.

Today in the news...An Industrial lobbyist has some dramatic words to say, due to lack of sufficient real arguments to be made on the matter to support his lobbying efforts.

These folks don't want to work so bad, they are suing the government because, they didn't get ENOUGH free money. The best satire is often just reality at work.

Governments and government funded organizations have proven woefully inadequate at addressing this problem. You can't solve a problem with the same level of consciousness that created it. Unfortunately, there will be no silver bullet offered by any government. This is not just a Thunder Bay problem (although it's certainly exasperated and highly visible here). Toronto has the same problem with different demographics, as do most cities in North America now. Federal, Provincial, and municipal governments are not equipped to fix this, nor should we funnel unlimited tax dollars to throw at the wall with low success. It's time humanity converges under new paradigms with grass roots organization with love, compassion as a binding force. The government is not coming to save us on this. We must take it upon ourselves, each person bringing their own personal gifts to the table. It's the only way the tide can be turned. The alternative is not good for anyone.

The stance that raising the minimum wage is going to ruin everything is silly, it's a symptom of inflation. Poor monetary policy (covid policies, printing money, housing crisis, international wars, and taxation policies etc) and lower average productivity in Canada have put our country here. In order for labour to extract a greater percentage of each dollar, and in order for labour to take value from capital...labour must demand it from the system. It's the only way. Minimum wage is going up but no one else's wage is? Demand it. It's the only way, capital will not give up its grasp on the economy willingly; labour must demand it as a condition of said labour. Get after it folks...fate favours the bold.
