Trump didn't 'see' anything. When he was made aware of it, he tweeted that he would've aired the same commercial. Then his handlers explained that it was bad for him and he had his hissy fit.The current US administration is the problem.
I'm still firmly supporting a boycott on American products. Hopefully Doug Ford holds strong on his stance against Musk's Starlink contract and finds a more favorable solution utilizing Canadian companies.Trump glosses over the fact that American companies and their investors heavily profit from the sale of firearms that cross our borders, arming these 'terrorists' that Trump delusionally believes that he's suddenly going to stop.Anybody who thinks this tariff threat was about Fentanyl clearly lacks the ability to think critically.
Take out the cartels? Lol! To what benefit? Why would America waste billions going to 'war' with a threat that replaces itself generationally due to constant massive demand?
'Absentmindedly' wasting more taxpayer money funding am unnecessary investigation. You got caught, so you paid the debts. That doesn't make it right. Step down gracefully and don't waste another dime.
@Margalo American history is propaganda now? You do realize that Reagan speech did happen, right? And Reagan was a president that a good majority of America respected.
Facebook, Instagram and TikTok are havens for scammers who target the elderly and those with cognitive deficiencies. Some will mask themselves as groups dedicated to celebrities, businesses, contests and they make false promises of financial gains. These social media platforms are plagued by bots and compromised accounts that neither company seems overly worried about monitoring. And if it's your account that's compromised, good luck finding a human thats willing to address the issue.Political tone is one thing that comes with the territory when you give everyone a soapbox with seemingly no repercussions, but the importance pales in comparison to the amount of criminality that goes on through these very popular platforms.
Carleton was Poilievre's riding, not Nepean. Nepean was Mark Carney's riding, which he won handily. Going from landslide victories in the previous elections to a loss should speak volumes to Pierre's reputation in Ottawa. Citing election interference is pure Trumpism. Deflect, deflect deflect.
It may come off as ageism, but elderly people really should consider deleting all social media profiles. The companies that run them simply don't care that these scams exist. It doesn't violate their terms of service. These scams are frequently well thought out and when they have their victim's personal info, they are persistent, attempting to access as much of their victim's money as possible in a short period before arising suspicion. It's difficult to determine when a person's cognition is slipping, but you really don't want the first sign to be someone draining your life's savings.
It'll be interesting to see how grocery stores adapt to the changes in the new year as accepting bottle and can returns require a significant amount of space and come with a number of food safety issues.
@rwrh This article states that the police identified this as a unique scam that resembled the well-known grandparent scam with the Gold aspect added, to both confuse the victim and add make it seem more like he was making a personal investment. It still started from an online conversation where the victim willingly provided the scammer their personal information.Social media apps are easy access to potential victims, who make themselves accessible through comment sections not unlike the one you and I are communicating on. Someone with cognitive lapses is likely to trust a friendly conversation and likely to jump at the opportunity to begin a relationship or make easy money. And it happens far more often than the data provided by the OPP suggests
Looking strictly at the attendance figures this year, I'd argue you need to give the city a bit if credit supporting a team that was clearly heading into a rebuild. Despite the fact there was a very real possibility they'd miss the playoffs, they averaged some of their best attendance to date coming out of COVID. And that's with the increase in ticket cost. They were rewarded with a team that surprised many with a team that went toe to toe with one of the OHL's best rosters. Looking forward to seeing the returnees in 2025-26!
@JBay A simple Google search will counter your arguments about Ghost job postings. The top online job and career boards like Indeed and LinkedIn acknowledge that they exist. I can assure you that you're wrong. Your view of today's job market and ease of making ends meet is extremely dated and ignorant to the challenges that people in the lower earnings threshold currently face, which unfortunately is the vast majority of service jobs. This article is outlining the difficulty 20 specific people are currently facing and your message to them is 'try harder'. Be better.
@liwii People keep falling for these scams because social media is giving these scammers immediate access to people with cognitive issues because they are the ones who click. The scammers pose as celebrities, or companies, or romantic interests and they promise significant financial gains. The issue at hand is that not enough is being done by any platform to curb it. Facebook and TikTok freely allow these types of scams to exist. Blackhawk still offers little to no security with their gift cards, which are a completely anonymous method to send money internationally. And these companies all profit from it. They have nothing to lose. These scams are a much larger threat to our elderly contingent than is being led on. With AI advancements, scammers have new convincing ways to defraud people who freely hand over their personal info. Once that info is out there, it's out there for good.
