Consumer carbon tax cancelled, gas prices plummet
TBNewsWatch

Correction: the consumer carbon tax is not cancelled, ditched, or scrapped. It's paused. It was written into law under bill C-74 and would need the sitting government to pass a bill to repeal it in order to completely eliminate it. Vote wisely.

So if I owned a double lot for decades, you'd be ok with the city coming and taking it if I don't want to give it up?Wow.I don't know what to say to that.

"The oil companies are THE most profitable in the history of civilization."Which makes them an excellent investment choice. But how profitable were they a few years ago when the price of oil was negative? "They receive massive tax breaks and incentives from governments around the globe as well." What tax breaks and incentives exist that other sectors don't get? And after factoring in those, how much money do oil companies remit to government in the form of taxes and royalties annually? What about all the "Big Oil" employees that pay taxes? "It's price gouging for excessive profits and shareholder dividend cheques."Those pesky shareholders, getting paid all those dividends. Maybe you should check your retirement investments. You are likely a shareholder. Kudos to you if you have removed any and all "Big Oil" from your retirement investments and walk the walk, but most of the complainers about "Big Oil" don't.

Sorry. Can't help you. If the west removes Khamenei from power there will immediately be protests calling for Khamenei's release as he was "kidnapped".

This could be awesome. Our tourism department should put together a daily excursion for all the guests of the cruise ships. They can disembark and view where they used to be able to get an ice cream at the old train station, then move on to view the partial construction of the art gallery, which will sit in that state for the next decade or so. Then on to the Thunder Bay Country Club, where they can take in 9 holes of golf, then view the foundation for future condos that has been sitting in that state for a decade. Are there any other partially built structures they can visit? Maybe they can also solicit them for funds to complete any of the partial structures they visited.

Inflation. Amazing.Hopefully TBnewswatch doesn't deem the above anti-liberal, otherwise it will never get posted. Conservatives are bad. Maybe that will help get this comment posted.

@jimIf I sold my house today I'd probably list it around $500k. I'm pretty sure that today's home buyers would consider it "unliveable" and need, as you put it, "$150k to make it liveable". My opinion is that is part of the problem. Everyone wants everything brand new like on HGTV. nobody wants a nicely renovated older home. Everyone has the mindset to buy a house, gut everything and renovate, versus living in it right away.

Judging by the lack of comments regarding Hajdu's education for the position, apparently it only matters for the PM to have appropriate education for the position. That was the reason many commenters on here preferred Carney over Poilievre.

And yet, the salary shaming sunshine list criteria of $100,000 has remained unchanged for... how many decades now?Minimum wage has increased by probably $30,000 per year in the time we've been shaming public servants.

It had been quite a few months of the liberal supporters on this site criticizing the conservatives plan (meaningless slogan, I think they always called it) to ax the tax. Where will the makeup for lost tax dollars come from, they asked. And now....silence. where are all the critics now? Looking for you, Rock...

I suppose it is a rarity these days if you're a member of the klimate kult. All the more reason to cry "kLiMaTe cHaNgE!!!!" when we get 30 cm in 2 days.Make normal weather seem abnormal, and everything fits the narrative.

Regardless of whether they're overpaid or not, here's another couple 3% raises over the next couple of years. But lets keep the public shaming sunshine list at the same level it's been at for the last 30 years. Makes total sense.
