'It's part of our democracy': Protesters take aim at Trump-like politics

Lol, so it is the fault of the Liberals that Trump decided to start a global trade war with his tariffs, and then later, an actual war with Iran which has destabilized things even further?

Obviously, the people on strike won't like this change. But I assume the general public will appreciate it. The LCBO model seems really outdated.

"Olsen said as the law stands, municipalities cannot evacuate a homeless encampment by force."OK, so what makes you think this will be a "temporary" homeless encampment instead of something permanent requiring a lot of tax dollars to keep going?

Surely, City Council's decision to build homeless encampments and make us some kind of "sanctuary city" like San Francisco will help with this situation...

I don't recall voting for homeless encampments to be built. Did any of them make that a platform in their campaigns? People want to see the city cleaned up, crime reduced, but this council just seems to have the opposite idea.

The article in the Toronto Star mentions "His letter came after the mayors of Barrie, Brampton, Brantford, Cambridge, Chatham-Kent, Clarington, Oakville, Oshawa, Pickering, St. Catharines, Sudbury and Windsor appealed to him two weeks ago for help.". Can our local leaders ask for help with this as well?

Unless Trudeau can pull a rabbit out of the hat and cut housing costs by about 50%, I don't think he will be in office much longer. It's the economy, stupid.

Scrap it then. I can't think of anyone who is enthusiastic about this project, besides perhaps the contractors who would be getting some of those millions of dollars. No one wants a homeless encampment built near where they live. The city already does a bad job at managing social housing with the buildings they own now.

They don't really seem to care about that. Have you been to the Victoriaville area recently? It's an open-air drug market.

There are nursing agencies bringing in a lot of temp workers and PSWs who get paid 2x what locally-trained nurses are paid... maybe someone should look into that.

The last time they went on strike and decided to "work to rule" it took MONTHS for me to receive mail that should have been delivered within a week. If they can't do the job, get rid of them and replace them with a different courier who can.

This is going to be a nightmare. Thumbs down to city council for approving this project at all. They all should be voted out next election cycle.

What's the point of even reporting stuff like this if you don't name who it is? Crime like this is an everyday occurrence.

Perhaps you could let viewers know where they can watch it? It's not on the 2 local TV channels, and most younger people don't even have cable or satellite subscriptions. It's on Crave.

Hold a plebiscite then. Ask how many of the 115k+ people living here would like this to be built at all.
