54I always find it interesting how people will say that the Trump admin is "bad", because they want to take over Greenland, so we shouldn't be doing business with them. In the same breath, they will say that a deal with China is a good thing. Even though China has been threatening to use military force to take over Taiwan for a long time now. Not to mention the imprisonment of Christians and other groups within China. You could even make the argument that the majority of the citizens of China are in a prision. Social credit scores, and constantly looking over their shoulders to see if the government is watching. We give them an open door to Canada, and we could very well be next.

Does this not describe fhe condition of almost every road in the Soo, regardless of the season? The roads here have been neglected for so long it would be impossible for the city to catch up on it. Property taxes are among some of the highest in Ontario and yet nothing to show for it.

SooToday 26If you don't realize that alcohol is unhealthy, you live under a rock. Where does the warning label brigade stop. Are we putting them on cars with a picture of a corpse in a mangled wreck? How about axes, should there be a picture of a severed hand? There is a point in your life where you need to use common sense in your choices. More labels with graphic pictures are a waste of time and money. Pictures and warnings are not going to deter alchoholics and they won't deter the younger generation at a party. This is nothing but a government wanting to look good to the public without actually doing anything constructive. Educating the people still living under a rock would be the best way to spend the money.

21There are multiple instances where the LCBO's across ontario are being targeted by multiple thieves at a time. Not just a bottle or two either. Thousands of dollars worth of liquor at a time. The employees are told to stand down and do nothing. There are times where citizens call the police and give them information and the police do nothing as well. I personally blame the policies of this Liberal government. They do nothing to deal with crimes being committed, and we are the ones getting charged if we protect ourselves in our own homes.

21The first thing you consider is the fact that they are resisting putting labels on it. Ask yourself why. They are also slipping in lab grown meat along with the cloned meat, but are keeping the public focused on the cloned meat because it is an easier thing to swallow. (Excuse the pun.) Our food should be natural. It's healthier, and cattle have been giving birth for eternity. No need to clone or grow synthetic meat in a lab. As for cow methane destroying the planet... if you believe that, there are more pressing issues you need to deal with.

20The only problem is that we can't even defend ourselves in our own homes without being charged. What's different about stopping a shoplifter in a store? The laws favour the criminal. Until that changes, nobody is going to confront a thief unless they have a "Get out of jail free" card.

13I know it is hard to let go of something that has been around since you were born, but this is a money losing business. It is nothing but a taxpayer funded money pit. The existing business is not viable and hasn't been for quite some time. It is costing us billions to keep it going. This should be shut down and replaced with a private company that will run it in a streamlined fashion to make a profit.

That way you can run as a candidate for the party you choose to be affiliated with and let the voters decide. Crossing over mid term is nothing but a betrayal of the voters that put you there.

8Doctors don't have time for empathy. They are stretched so thin they can't even diagnose problems anymore. All they are able and allowed to do is prescribe a drug to manage symptoms. The root cause of a medical issue doesn't even enter the equation anymore. The system needs to be gutted and rebuilt, starting with the removal of caps on the admission of medical students.

2Are we going to add warning labels and pictures to seed oils, ultra processed food, and how about hand tools? We can show a severed hand on a lable for an axe. If you don't know about the health risks of alchohol by now, you've been living under a rock for decades. If you need the government to wrap you in bubble wrap every time you leave your house, you have bigger issues that need to be addressed. I don't really care if you agree or not. There comes a time where a person has to take responsibility for their own actions and use the grey matter between your ears to make decisions based on common knowledge and your own experience.
