It would be hard to where this shirt. Living here my entire life and having a good memory the negatives outway the positives. As a kid this was a great place to be a kid. Today, this city being driven by people with personal adjendas having control it is hard to get excited.I have said for years that this city has never reached its potential. Oh, so true.
I wish someone would describe to me the culture of the city of Guelph. I can not understand any decision made in this city. No consistency, no plan, no rime or reason just heater shelter. Whoever complains the loudest today, the most emails on a certain subject, whatever pet project of one of the elected officials needs to be acted upon. There is no oversite for municipal officials. When a city is run in a manner where anarchy rains someone needs to step in and save the tax payers.
Asking the tax payer to clear snow from stupidly design bike lanes in a country with winter weather makes it life threateningly dangerous. Bike are a very small use transportation in winter or summer in Guelph. But, anyone how uses a bike in Ontario ignoring the danger during the winter has no concern for their lives. It is not the taxpayer responsibility to create a safe passage for safe bike riding in an Ontario winter is utterly impractical. If the news reporting is correct that $600k+ dollars spent this winter to provide snow plowing of bikes should be considered criminal. It opens lawsuit for the city to defend if someone is extremely injured where only a death wish could only explain the bbehaviour. Taxpayers hard earned money should be used with more respect. But, this is Guelph, Ontario.
I am expecting nothing from the city. If the city does do something, it will be imbrassing.Typical city of Guelph always and never meets any real standard other than imbrassing. Look at downtown Guelph during the holidays season for the last 25 years, utterly unimpressive.
No matter the topic the city of Guelph takes a position that is never beneficial to the citizens of Guelph.I am always confused and frustrated by their behaviour. This city acts like a cult.Decisions are always made for political reasons not to benefit the city taxpayers. Why would the city decide to get involved with e-scooters and not implement their e-scooters program along the same standards that were outlined in the provincial program. The oversite that this city works unders is never enough. The fiasco of the 2024 budget the cutting of existing programs and projects made the city look extremely stupid. The total arrogance of the city responsing to the province on the road dieting program that the city has enacted, is just a continuation of a lie. This city is dillusional and their messages are usually a total fraud to tax payers of this city.
Why in the world would the Federal government put money into Guelph transit? This is not a transit system in the sense that it does little to preform it's designed purpose but lots to cause nothing but bewilderment. Cause by it's implemented short comings and it's inability to correct operational flause.Another situation throwing good money away unless it forces change to correct the problems that are inherent in it design and implementation. But, this what governments do, pretend to do thing.
This city is a disaster. It is poorly managed, priorities confused, living in a state of their delusional version of reality, money spent like in the game of monopoly and important issues that are only in the minds of of the agenda driven elected officials. While a camp of lost Canadians living under the south side of the bridge that cross over the Speed river and the Hanlon by the Manor survive. It is not right people living in the square but winter is almost upon us and individuals sleeping outside only shows a society that only has a narcissistic attitude of themselves. There must be a empty building somewhere in this city? Guelph really did not need a new library or a new recreational center. These are items a afluence not of need. This city has became cold and heartless, it has been for a long time, special interest groups have exploited this city.I was born in Guelph, there was a time I was proud being from here, not for a long time.Disgusting.
Only in Guelph protecting something that does not exist. Why does this city march to a beat that does not exist and wastes tax payer money on pet projects. The culture of the city of Guelph is not normal, as they continue to do thinks that causes you to scratch your head.Guelph is great city but it is run by an embarassing city hall that has no existence in reality.
I find it offensive the bias in this article. Ask the question with a neutral bias, report the results with a neutral bias. No one cares about the opinion of the reporter, that is not the place.Your comment on distribution of federal government spending is a juggling exercise they always have to play.To even comment on spending of this current government is utterly disgusting. In the next fiscal year according to news reports, tax payers with be spending more more to service their out of control spending debt than we will be paying on health care. Times are a mess. The world has been turned upside down. We do not need a repeat of the 20th century. Spending to keep the peace is more important, as the consequences are unspeakable.Passivist do not protect anything. Just on a general statement our sons and daughters who are in uniform deserve the very best equipment to do their job and protect them from harm. This government does not believe in that value.
What about the section between Victoria road and Watson Rd?I don't think that road has been touched since it was first played with asphalt.Never understand decision made by the city of Guelph. Never seems to be logic just adjendas.
This is what you are calling misuse. I would think this is called vandalism. Misuse would be having the grass kicked up because of rough play. I did not know that cars were allowed to use the soccer field, that is the only way it could be called misuse. Why would used determine this to be misuse unless for political reasons you just want to close the park and this gives you the reason. Can not trust on anything from the city of Guelph. Well done as always.
Why is anyone surprised by this call-out. The city of Guelph for most of this century has behaved continuously as if they were an island on it own and ruled the island as it see fit, independent of the hierarchy of laws in the country.Only recently city council arrogantly asked the province to change the building code to agree with their beliefs without concern for the bigger picture. It is oblivious that this city is ignorant the distribution of powers in the constitution. The on going battle this city has with infrastructure for communication equipment which is solely under the control of the federal government.Anyone who closely follows city council understands the bizzaro world that they function in.As, I have always stated carry as if you are normal. This city is has not been normal since Norm Jary retired many years ago. RIP Norm.
Why is this a surprise to anyone who lives in the city of Guelph. The cities inability to manage anything till it becomes an emergency. If you remember the bridge on Niska Rd. a few years ago, after knowing the Bailey bridge was know to be an issue but nothing was done till it had to be closed because of fear of failure. This city is more than willing to spend money on pet project and waste million in legal fee because of questionable decisions.Oversight is necessary by an independent body because this city is incompetent.City of Guelph always awarded a participation award but never a metal.
I find these type of conversations mostly grotest. So, let's charge Enbridge more so they can transfer the extra cost the city taxpayers. Well, I guess they can't blame the city for the increase to our gas bill.Just continued nonsense from the environmentist, I find it insulting. Our PM does the same thing during discussing the environment. The sad thing is if someone is not getting rich from these shemes, they do not exist. No, one really cares about the environment because it is too painful to make real change. But, add a monitary component to the equation then we have a winner. The weather changes are scary but their are no real solution to attack the issues.Tax grabs, technology that rapes the environment but does little in reality but create an electrity shortage, replacing single use plastic with a mountain of cloth bags but their are hundreds of single use bag that were not addressed.Everything is a source of thief from the average worker.Time to revolt.
The city's CAO stated that she does not know of anyone who was fined for non-complainance. Non-complainance for living outside in an area that does not meet somewhere the city does not approve. As a life time taxpayer of the city of Guelph, I am never surprised at what is said or what appears in city documents. Passing a By-law that will fine a homeless person who cannot afford a place to live makes little sense.Just to clarify this bylaw is to control people who are below the poverty line, because they have little to no money money.Nothing in Guelph can surprise anyone who is awake.
Give me a break. In a world has real issues and we waste time on something so ridiculous. It is nice to have many old trees in this city that has provided trees for new homes for many decades. We need many many important items in Guelph, trees should not appear in any list of the first hundred items.
I am confused the federal government early last year stated the the goal for new homes in Canada was 5.8 million by 2030. I guess the city of Guelph decided to an obstacle to this goal. Without an intelligent approach in the time required for approval of new housing starts a goal is useless.New housing is the only path to affordable housing for millions of Canadian with dreams of being a home owner.Guelph is always the outlier. Why is Guelph's behaviour never agreeable. We have too many homeless in this city living outside but nothing lights a fire. A new provincial law with teeth needs to be passed to force oversight of municipal governments for their behaviour.City of Guelph can never meet it's potential always a participation trophy winner.
Sadly, the way the environment is being protected is on the backs of the middle class. It should have been criminal the way Trudeau and the Federal Liberals behaved. Some people are getting extremely rich while many can not afford to live. The biggest problem is money is being stolen from the middle class without any real and visible changes in behaviour of anyone. There is no money being spent by our governments on research for real effective change. Where is a carbon capture device to add to all vehicles on the roads. As our roads are over crowded. Effective public transit run by anyone but municipal governments that makes sense to use by everyone. The changes and leadership will have to come from governments providing solution that in the short term must be supported with cheaper fairs till their use become self sufficient.Forget the pet projects by most elected municipal counsel people.
Sihi pumps has been a fixture in Guelph for a long time. It is a shame that a company after a name change resulting in the removal of a competitor, grabbing what technology they possess then closing its doors. The Canadian government needs to start deep oversight of these companies especially Americans companies before they allow the sale. Sihi pump has been in Guelph I believe since the 70's. A successful company is now defunct because of an American company need to bend their knees to Trump.Times where Americans companies come into Canada without a long term dedication and a willingness to suffer the highs and low of market changes must be a minimum requirement. This nonsense of American companies coming to Canada to get around US laws, taxes or lower dollar must be history. Cold war years are long gone.
