Patty, this money would have been better spent developing more deeply affordable housing. Once your government has addressed that need, and attracted more investment by industries, then pursue the nice-to-haves like a science centre and a $57 million art gallery.

In comparing the construction activity over time, the City should focus on the number of housing units and square footage of new commercial and industrial buildings rather than $ value of permits issued since construction costs have pretty much doubled in the last 5 years.
I wonder how many council members and senior admin own short term rentals?

Olson and Collin are basing this on what Peterborough has done....tiny sheds with no running water, so no dignified bathrooms or showers at $50,000 apiece.
MO - just because others have spent millions on sheds instead of affordable housing, doesn't make what General Collin has bamboozled council into doing right
