I say congratulations to the First Nations involved and looking towards their financial future! To all the people who want to be negative what made you so special! I am Caucasian and embarrassed to read your comments as it proves racism runs rampant in Thunder Bay! I hope this is just the beginning for the First Nations investing in the communities of Northwestern Ontario.
Several warrants out for his arrest and flees officers on foot.........they caught him and I am thinking things got a little physical but is that not what happens when a bad guy flees from the police. These officers have to go home after every shift to their families so if a few bad guys get a couple punches in the face so be it as our police in this country don't shoot and ask questions later. Thank you to all who serve and protect! I understand what SIU is for but I also understand that in the heat of the moment officers have to do what they have to do but why would anyone want to be a cop with SIU breathing down your back!!!!!
So, that is your concern sitting on your comfy chair in your warm house? I for one know a few of these people do work and are trying as not all are giving up! We all hit tough times in life for whatever the reason and you are concerned if they have a fire permit.
Canada Post has got to change! If Canada Post was privately owned it would have filed for bankruptcy by now and be a part of our history like, Sears, Eatons and The Bay. Protecting jobs that the taxpayer is paying for so we should have a say in the matter! Just like CBC, cuts need to be made and no bailouts from the government and see how long it lasts.
Can you imagine by-law knocking on your door to tell you your grass is too long! What a joke use electric lawnmowers and keep our city groomed. I am sitting here in disbelief because did they not make a senior remove her flower garden on her boulevard that looked really nice
Really, I feel calling them lazy comes from someone that has no clue exactly what is happening in this city. One just has to read/listen to our local news and the published amount of calls our police service receives to acknowledge they're extremely busy. I appreciate and acknowledge the hard work our police, paramedics and fire dept do in our city and thank all for their service.
Alice Miller, you say criminal behavior of the police! NO excessive force was the issue here causing injury and none of us know what happened during the arrest by the fleeing criminal who had several arrests warrants because it is under investigation. Do you actually think he just stood there? These officers are innocent until proven by SIU that they used excessive force. I fully understand what the SIU does and I fully respect the job they have to do but it seems like you have still more understanding to do towards our local police force!
Really, he was stealing from an OD victim at the end of the day look what a $1000.00 got him and the spot he put the paramedic in. Kudos to the paramedic for doing the right thing! This officer has to live with his actions for life and the published articles and his name and picture on the media, loss of job and charges and embarrassment in his community will be enough. Now if we could only get pictures and names in articles of all the criminals in spousal abuse, drunk driving, theft, and on and on! How about the guy who was just charged who is a contractor and had cameras in the house the owners were unaware of.....creepy! Oh, they did publish his name! but not his business!
I was under the understanding that the hospital doesn't own or maintain the parking lots that it's a local company and they get most of the money from parking fees. I am not sure but maybe somebody else on here knows if this is fact or just a rumor.
Would you want to be judged on the actions of a co-worker? I think there are a few bad apples but for those police officers that serve and protect and abide by the oath they swore to do not deserve to be called out and distrusted. Then there all those who just hate police because they think there above the law!
Congratulations to the First Nation Communities for investing their money in our area and helping in building the North for future generations of all our people. I believe in reconciliation and I also believe that some of us could do better. Our government welcomes so many from other countries, but we ignore our own fellow Canadians! I think the First Nations should be welcomed to invest in our city and welcomed to build housing for their people owned and operated by them. The first nations should get funding from the government to create a group who helps their people living on the streets because they understand what hardships their people have faced. If we could all work together to fight crime, addiction, homelessness and missing people maybe just maybe we will be moving in the right direction to truly reconcile. Let's make Northwestern Ontario prosper and let's work on making our towns, cities and reserves safe for our families together.
You just have to love it when you try to reply on here and it says, my comment contains one or more obscene words or phrases which goes against Community Guidelines! Yet, commenters can say what they want about police and all I was doing was describing the folks that paramedics, nurses and police have to deal with on a daily basis.
OMG, your comments on here are against everything and I think you do it on purpose to get a reaction. Either that or you're just plain miserable about growth in our city! Go find a hobby!
Mr. Jonathan Simkins, so everybody else is wrong about everything with regards to this city but you know it all! Taxpayers have the right to vent! Are you a retired teacher as you sure like to correct everybody's comments when handed in!!!!!!!
Jason is referring to Freelands interview when she actually said, her children suggested that they could cut the Disney Channel during these hard times...........the same person that said, she doesn't own a car to help with the enviroment.....I would imagine the deputy prime minister has a car service paid for by the government. with security detail.
