Good for the council, no surprise on the Major

Thoroughly disappointed with Mayor Cam Guthrie, MPP Mike Schreiner and MP Lloyd Longfield. This place is beautiful and it needs to be preserved. We don't need another library, but we do need a second hospital in the SOUTH end, where all the construction and expansion is going to take place, not on a flooding zone. That would be a total fiasco and waste of taxpayers money.

Some people make $50k working full-time, what we need are representatives who are deeply attuned to the needs of the constituency.

Hope your resilience pays off, best of luck to Cargill workers :)

And now this small business is not going to survive the fine and close their doors, leaving people without employment. Great...

They shut it down because there is no financial benefits to the city, disgusting how those that are supposed to represent their constituents are NOT working for their benefits.

Several buildings are already planned for this area, with hundreds of new units concentrated within a 500‑meter radius. The traffic studies for 1242–1270, 1204, and Valley Rd, as well as the reports for 1242 Gordon and 9 Valley Rd, already show that traffic capacity will be fully exceeded. Not to mention that fire services and emergency evacuation routes are already severely constrained by the developments currently approved, and any additional projects would further compromise the safety of the residents who live here. It would be irresponsible to approve any additional construction in this area

Wrong, wrong, wrong..

That's outrageous!! We are already one of the highest taxed cities, I pay the same amount here for my 880 sqft condo than I do for my rental property in Kingston at 1750 sqft. and Kingston is a great city to live in.Guelph is just too expensive to live in, Gov should look at their budgets and adjust rather than burden citizens with an increase.

Not a good move, in any sense.

US friend has a 2800 sqft house on 4 acres of land, pays the same on property taxes than I do for an 880sqft condo... time to leave this province.

Clearly the city people don't look at all the existing buildings and future developments already set for this tiny 1 km area. Almost 5000 residents, all depending on Gordon St as their only access road, and I feel for those living on valley Rd and landsdown, surrounded by wooded areas and only one two-lane road to exit the area. Hope nothing catastrophic happen in the future in this area, but if it does and firefighters and evacuation is difficult, remember that the city sided with developers and not with you, and go after the city and those who approve it.

Also, don't approve it until Gordon St expansion is a reality, because that is why even the city is proposing that expansion, because they know traffic here is already at capacity.

The park is already there, we can build a hospital anywhere else, but the ponds and the trees are irreplaceable

My friend invited her mom to stay for few weeks and she ended up in hospital, the only difference is that my friend is a RESPONSIBLE adult and bought her mom visitor's insurance before arriving here.

And what about the Gordon St expansion? WHEN is that supposed to happen? Council approving all these developments with no care for the 5000 PEOPLE set to live in this 500 meter radius, YES, that many people cramped in that small area, we should hold everyone that approved this accountable for not carrying enough to see what they are approving and how it affects the community. This is right next door to another huge development at 9 valley Rd and 1242-1270 Gordon St. And what more studies? Haven't they read the traffic reports that are showing already peak points and over capacity in arkell and Edinburgh?

Great! Now, when are they going to finish York Rd repairs? Or is only posh areas that deserve speedy action from the city?

I have participated in protests before, mainly to preserve the greenbelt. Bravo to all those who care enough for their convictions to get out and protest.

Funny enough, I just got a call from someone claiming to be “CIBC.” The voice and music tone sounded exactly like the real thing. I normally ignore unknown numbers, but I had my Bluetooth on and was away from the phone, so I picked up in case it was work-related. The message said they’d detected fraudulent activity and gave me a 1‑800 number to call. Instead of using that number, I called the number on my actual card — and, unsurprisingly, there was no “suspicious” activity whatsoever.
