Gosh Sandra, am not into usa politics but it has been on tv, you tube, internet a lot/news. Am I watching different presentations than you are? Um.. glamour? My take is it is joy, it is common sense, it is truth. Harris cant put two words together? Are you joking? She is so eloquent and professional. It is almost sad, almost sad, to see D.T. floundering - and being caught in so many untruths..... I don't favour either side politically but from what I have seen, read and heard, it is totally opposite to what you feel. ???
Unbelievable you are not getting support. Wondering if you stop paying taxes and case goes to Court and you show the judge the pictures and share the above... could the City be sued. To be quite honesty I am seriously having to decide whether or not to continue having appointments with two legit medical offices Main East... I have a heart, I feel for people in distress such as homeless esp. if mental health problems, but why should YOU be in distress over a situation none of us would be comfortable with, seems like it is illegal, and frightening! Perhaps our new Chief of Police could advise... this is so WRONG.
I am all in support of giving people " a helping hand - a hand up" but all this is turning into even more of a problem than ever envisioned after living here fifty years.. sickening.
Gauthier1 Over 50,000 people in Canada died from Covid, and many milions ill, recovered completely or not and still suffering post Covid syndrome... how much higher would those figures have been had we not masked, distanced, and as you term it, had "Lockdowns." What if all businesses had decided to stay open "for all their right reasons" - if all hospital visitors and doctors and staff had decided they knew best by not taking precautions?? If other venues had not installed hand disinfectant etc etc. School closures; isolation; doctors working night and day; people unable to attend funerals of loved ones - we ALL suffered for various reasons FOR THE GOOD OF ALL. It was not a time to be selfish and do whatever WE felt was "the right reason." - a Global illness, Pandemic, could have been even worse had we not put our personal views aside.
Because both my now adult children worked in the service industry, from chip stands, to large Hotels in B.C. to help put themselves through College and University, yes I do tip. Even if you say: keep the change, it all adds up. I do try and make sure I tip the person and not add it into the bill for the owner of whatever service... you should see the faces light up of some delivery people, just to give them enough for a cup of coffee; and a bit extra at Christmas ... I have been there, done that. I still feel it is the customers' choice whether to and when to, or not!
...be carefu what you wish for. Beware of the unknown... and "the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know" ... don't shoot the Messenger ! To be honest I would not want the job as p.m. of any country these days - times have changed, from young to old people feel entitled, many do not respect the "rules" and it will never be possible "to go back." Covid did indeed add to the problem....we hear, read about, see within seconds of it happening, such horrible news from many countries - a daily diet of stress we have to wade through. JMO
...rwrh I did think the same thing with a quick read of this ... I may be wrong but even "politics asid" there is something about this guy turns me off... !!!
...how many homes could have been built with this money - Municiapally-owned houses/homes with affordable rents for families for many years into the future - wants vs. needs ! To those who will be using or will be employed at this out of the way Arena - enjoy the fact there are many other problems need fixing in our City for the majority - enjoy your piece of the pie others are paying for, while there is "no money" for other needs. When there is affordable housing, streets repared, and the list goes on.. then build another place to play hockey....by the the time it is built the average person on an average income won't be able to afford to buy a ticket to watch... time will tell.
Idahaddanuff .... the usa politics will definitely affect we Canadians... we cannot vote in their election of course but we can read their news, views and the hundreds of lies being told, it's a horror show.. hope our next election is not anything like theirs... scary!
@furby56 So, I am one of those people you see walking around North Bay with a mask on FOR MY OWN MEDICAL REASONS. I know Bay Today will not show the words I would really like to use to you - but it is very IRONICAL that you are DEFENDING thIs business owner for not wanting to wear a mask - for her reasons - yet you are critisizing MY wearing one - what difference does it make to YOU whether or not I need to use one?
City stop charging for mattresses taken to the dump, period. This has been an issue since the charge. If we cab affofrd a damn ice rink we can afford to let people take their old mattresses to the dump! Sick of it
.....majority rules but am disappointed someone I voted for who has spent most of their adult life helping the less fortunate in North Bay - housing, food, school supplies etc., - and has been a "champion" of lower income and desperate men women and children, who would not only vote for this but embrace this "Vision" which essentially will benefit games of hockey, while people are struggling to buy groceries, and so on. Shame.
Longtime2 NOPE WRONG - am not a chronic complainer just foresee problems.... If cost was $125,000.00 they can built two, at a location easily accessible for those who perhaps dont have a car, oh wait a minute, costs money to have kids in hockey and attend game.... oh rules out lots of people as a start. WE CANNOT AFFORD IT. PERIOD. What percentage of this City will benefit from it..... and don't try and make us feel guilty by name calling for suggesting this HUGE amoutn of money could be better spent on other things in our City FOR EVERYONE... such as HEALTH.(And find out who owned/who owns the land in that area - you might be surprised). Typical.
...regardless, it takes a lot of courage to be the only person voting against and not going with the majority in any given situation. Personnally I am quite surprised with Lana... who has been an advocate for low income people for many many years... imagaine how this money could have been spent vs. those who play hockey $$$ If a change room etc. was required for the outside sports, that could have been built... etc. etc. The more things change the more they remain the same! !
..totally agree ciancio... and make an example of this person ... perhaps and hopefully will help keep other dangerous criminals from coming to our City - even if we have to do it one by one: hope the Policeman is ok !
