Stephan Kinach is a good young man and his speaking up should not have resulted in any discipline, but he had requested the Integrity Commission oversight. The Integrity ruling was borderline and incorrect, but once administered, he had 2 choices, and chose not to apologize. The verbal reprimand is a slap on the wrist only. The message forward is for Stephan to keep challenging the norms, and financial decisions, and work on behalf of our community best interests, but do so professionally abiding by the code of conduct rules that were enacted in 2018. We need more challenge and less elbow rubbing and conformity. Taxpayer interests are the priority. Thank you Stephan.

For 60+ years, NA steel industry has been decimated by foreign steel, affecting USWA jobs, reducing American steel production from number 1 in the world to 5th. China, India, Japan, and others have undercut our supply, they employ low cost labour. We need a level playing field. In Canada, steel mills are owned by foreign countries, such as Cleveland Cliffs own Stelco, Arcelor Dofasco owned by India, and Algoma Steel by American investors. Evraz owned by Russia. Tenaris owned by Brazil. It is a national security threat to have reliance of steel by others. USS Corporation was about to sell to Nippon in Japan, until Trump intervened. There will be exemptions to tariffs in Canada. In the case of Algoma Steel, we make high-quality military plate for the US. Trump’s last term, he did not tariff Algoma. We need to stop fear mongering. 28% carbon tax crippling families over climate change hoax, while Trudeau whines about tariffs. Who is the biggest threat to Canadians? It’s our government.

That was a good read.I hope we will see some transparency and accountability emerging at SooToday. For certain, many articles are extremely divisive, childish and at times toxic. It often appears journalism is aimed at creating controversy or slandering someone for the sake of humiliation or malice.Some journalists at SooToday should refer to “Community Guidelines” to which they profess to be the gold standard. Politics in particular are certainly divisive issues and it should not be a vicious sport, it should be about objective facts, data and balance, rather than personal attacks. Many in our community, believe Village Media are funded by the liberal government, as bias is used to promote certain agendas. The National Inquirer approach is wearing thin. Could this be the beginning of a new era, we will see.

Supervised consumption of drugs is nothing but a death sentence for the addicted. What facts or statistics would prove otherwise?What has worked for over 80 years through Alcoholics Anonymous is; Abstinence, Medical Treatment, Therapy, Fitness and Faith. Providing more drugs to addicts is simply prolonging the addiction, with eventual outcome of overdose and death. Safe consumption or decriminalization of illicit drugs is counterintuitive to recovery and detrimental to the addicted. Safe consumption is a myth. It undermines logic, past practice and human dignity. It only leads the addict to eventually succumb to overdose or to choose MAID. Remove Bill C75 and Bill C5 and get the drugs and dealers off the streets. Close the borders and increase national security through law enforcement.
