The snow was an exceptional challenge, but I think that at the best of times Orillia is not a walking-friendly place.Winter, though, is particularly sad...I've seen people with mobility issues unable to reach walking signal request buttons because the town has piled snow around the pole with the button. I've tried to walk from Foodland to Canadian Tire and found sidewalks used as snow dumps, forcing me to walk on the road.In the north end, where sidewalks even exist, they are treacherous, pitiful, badly laid asphalt efforts.
So, was this a consequence unforeseen by the provincial government, which indicates some incompetence, or was it indeed foreseen, and towns like Nipigon were thrown under the bus for political expediency?
