“In fact, a number of people who are experts in the field would suggest that the likelihood of crime may very well decrease because those who are being supported are being supported properly and are not starving.”They're not stealing for food, grandpa.
That's okay, I'll see Ben somewhere else. But I'm a tight budgeter, so those travel costs will have to be offset somewhere..... likely by admission to anything ever hosted at the TBCA again.
"The incident highlighting the dangers posed by open flame and propane appliances", said the fire department. It encourages the public to "exercise caution and follow recommended safety procedures when using these devices."Heroin. You forgot to include heroin.
Maybe Marit should have chatted with some of the surrounding residents and businesses...... I'm kidding of course this is the NDP so people who work don't matter.
1. There’s a bed for everyone, they just don’t want to go the night without fighting or doing drugs.2. You don’t have enough shelters so after you waste our money, you still “won’t be able to,” relocate anyone.
I don't think anyone really cares. The mayor made all kinds of inaccurate statements however he did something that few politicians do anymore.... he spoke about something that matters to ordinary people and acknowledged their frustrations and that goes a long way these days. Pierre Poilievre does this well - no policies, no details... just talks about things that matter and it seems to be enough. This isn't ideal, but we're in a time where more and more people's grievances are being ignored and we here politicians address what they want to address.... which is generally something that panders to 3% of the population one way or the other.
Anyone notice that since that clinic stopped handing out needles it looks like it went out of business? Now that they just do treatment referrals, it's a ghost town. You can't help those that don't want help.
Tell the DFO where to stick their proposal. We're closing rinks that in some cases cost only hundreds a year to run to save money and we're going to take this thing on?
The only people we don’t have enough housing for are the ones in tents and I don’t see how a $700,000 house on Thornloe is going to fix that. Other than that the goal is to increase supply to lower prices which is worthy but 3 houses here and 2 there aren’t going to change the situation and at the expense of bulldozing precious green space it’s a ludicrous idea.
Here we go again… the City is approving an almost 1,000 home subdivision outside of the infill zone and this gremlin in City Hall still wants to sell a park to build like 2. Which developer wants it and who at City Hall is in their pocket?
So we have one group handing out $1000 ice fishing tents..... a block away from an under-capacity warming shelter. I'm not going to complain because these guys sell me the tents for pennies on the dollar but come on.....
$1204 a month on average!?!? We eat nice steak, sockeye salmon, shrimp, lobster and tons and tons of berries, asparagus, avocados, etc, shop at Safeway half the time and we still don’t spend quite that much. Family of four. Where do they come up with these numbers?
The only thing the City runs that isn't a laughing stock is that trailer park... the residents are happy, the place is clean and the operation makes money. I'd keep it. But I'll put it to Council like this: What are you going to cut to offset the profits being made by the park? More rinks? Library funding? Maybe a couple jobs at the police station? An ambulance? What are you going to cut that's being funded by that profit? Answer that first.
