Orillia museum's 'future at risk' in wake of city demands: official

I can't imagine the City can possibly believe OMAH can bear the costs the city demands. It looks as if this valuable, educational and historical institution will have to close. I wonder where all the exhibits will go.

Bob Bowls knows what he is talking about. The houses will flood and the wetland destroyed if this development goes through. I expect there was as lot of pushback against the development. Trouble or disaster follows when you disrupt nature.-

Jack Abbott just about sums it up. There is nothing good about this government nor is there much hope for Poilievre to be any better. Although Trudeau put in a lot of useless political programs and spent a ton of money, it will take years and years of cutbacks and solid governing to get it back. None of the kings in waiting will manage it or TRUMP. Inn the past, the Greens had a pretty good handle on money but who knows now? And, their stand on Israel is just as idiotic as the others. Doesn't ANYONE fact check before blurting out and condemning actions?

I agree with retired optimist. No longer will I support OSMH with donations.

For years I have been watching this play out and there is no question Doug surrounds himself with "cronies" who do his dirty work. There has been no transparency with the government and constant deflections and side shows when asked about shady dealings. Ford is always dancing around his underhanded deals . He has more than proven he is on the take for dozens of deals and decisions he makes on our behalf which do nothing to explain his true involvements. Now let's get on the other politicians who do the same thing. This has been going on since Bill Davis, the last politician who had the provinces best interest at heart.

David is right on all points. I, too, have tried to contact Jill Dunlop in writing on several occasions and had no response from either her or her staff. I volunteered at several a public service promotions where she was supposed to be present for a shift. She never did show up. Our Federal MP showed up. What happened to her? She is a very disappointing representative and should properly represent her constituents. Her father was an excellent MPP and served for many years. One would have thought she would have learned how to how to support her constituents at his knee. Now I won't even consider voting for her OR her autocratic, egocentric party despite having been a conservative for over 65 years.

If this is only to reduce the damage to pedestrians when they are hit, what are the odds of their being hit? As others have said, there is the frustration of drivers to contend with and excess expense of her signage. How often will speeding be enforced - thus bringing a hoped for windfall of money to the city,? A lot more constables will have to be hired to have an effect on speeding. Other than a perception of more safety, will it actually have an effect?

Thank you to Home Hardware. It is my go to store for just about everything. The service is great, they have almost everything you need and the staff is knowledgeable about everything they sell and some they don't sell.

I've watched this mayor damage and overstep his role. He is not the voice of Orillia, the people are. He should not have received Mayor's powers as he has not demonstrated his integrity to the people of Orillia..

Minimum wage has nothing to do with a huge increase in politicians' salaries. MPPs should be required to document their hours of work, time in the legislature and accomplishments. But most important of all is the timing and perception of this raise on top of their huge raise last year. To the hardworking, debt ridden constituents this is an outrage.. Ford says he has a heart and concern for Ontarians yet he is the most extravagant premier Ontario has even had, throwing our money away on pet projects, wild dreams of a legacy, feeding his supporters while ignoring the importance of his honest duty. Further the fears of his actions led him to change the FOI rules.

What has this world come to? This woman needs help. And if the landlord will not disclose his/her name, there is something going on here, especially as there was a for sale sign. If it did not sell, the landlord wants to get this woman out so he can charge higher rent. A lot of people say they want to have a family member move in to the vacated dwelling just to get the current person out. Furthermore, no one can refuse a service dog access but this case is more than that. This woman has specific needs that are met here but will be hard to duplicate elsewhere. My heart goes out to her.

Carney got us known on t he world stage and the bigger, more profitable countries agree with him. Trump is a coward and bully. He backs down when faced with real opposition. If he tries to put 100% tariffs on Canadian goods, he is hurting the U.S. a lot and his ratings will go down even lower than they are now.

I'm shocked. This is no way to treat a fellow human being. I 'm surprised they didn't just leave him out in the cold. This incident should be investigated and the people who behaved so badly should be reprimanded. The little shelter that was destroyed should be rebuilt so at least there can be some humanity shown for this poor, man

All of the items mentioned in Doug Coopers statement indicate it is a very bad idea to open the consumption of liquor to these events. For some reason Doug Ford is obsessed with drinking alcohol. All it does is make this province unsafe - drinking and driving, drinking and fighting, drinking and gambling. These will all happen if Orillia goes ahead with the concept of open drinking of alcohol.

I am shocked that the decision to stop our summer theatre was made without consultation with Collins. I also agree there is much more lost here than the obvious. Loss of local construction and supporting summer jobs and loss of a part of our local identity. The City should have made an appeal to its audience of loyal customers and theatre goers everywhere to help with the costs of renovation and other issues. To close this venue to, import already produced shows for shorter periods is a great loss to this community.

I almost never go downtown anymore mainly because of parking. Just about everything I need is at the plazas or supermarkets.

I had no complaints about the previous recycling system. However, two weeks ago I put out a bag of shredded paper, it was knocked off the top of the recycle bin and left on the ground. When I called the company, they said they would pick it up next time. Then I called my MPP and was told they will not get out of the truck to pick up anything; that I should push it down into my recycle bin. That won't work because then there will be no room for my recycling. I'm so frustrated I've decided that if I have more recycling than fits in the bin, everything will go in the garbage if recycling is not working like it used to. With all the complaints I'm reading about, why doesn't Ford do something about this issue. Forget about his new plan. Until he has a reliable alternative, I'm not participating. So the garbage dump will overflow.

Any provincial appointment is suspect. None are based on merit but on Ford's self serving, ambitions regarding everything from his massive expenditures of self promotion, overly grand visions of his construction projects and ambitions, his consistent false promises, destruction of our safety networks and protections and his actions of dictatorship.

Now parents and the public will have to be very careful where they can take their children for outings as there may well be partying, drinking probable drug possession and indecent behaviour wherever they go for relaxation and safe family time. Thank you Doug. Now in addition to liquor easily being available at gas stations, supermarkets and corner stores you have made our public spaces and highways even more dangerous.

I won't even think of going to the U.S as long;as Trump is the pres. I did't even renew my passport. I try very hard not to buy anything made in the U.S. And yes, Trump has done more for Canada than Carney who doesn't seem to have any idea of how to deal with this. I'm afraid he is going to cave in. I hate to see what this is doing to our bushiness but I'm delighted to hear he is damaging his economy more than ours.
