Great news, well written, and a darn interesting picture of so much that is involved in bringing a life into our midst. The divorce rate amongst premature-baby parents was truly staggering. That needs to be seriously studied... regarding our societal beliefs, at the very least. The issues brought forth about what is called "funding" is not about "funding" but about who is making such decisions and why. Clearly we need better baselines upon which to build . Hats off to Dr. Prakesh Shah and his colleagues with many thanks spoken and unspoken.

That we have only three councillors who see this process going on as an absurdity, is extremely disturbing to me as it is to many others. The fact that the others wont accept the majority council's chosen wordings as prejudicial, and a major slight against the unhoused, is more than bizarre. It is proof they and the mayor have no business making decisions for Guelph citizens, and as such should be removed. Human rights are not just a matter of fairness. They are God-given rights that maintain equal respect for every human. Telling them they are limited as to where they can live, when housing is not provided is neither equally respectful nor a fulfilment of God-given rights, frustrated further by prioritizing commercial ventures over destitute lives. ...And the destitute are expected to cow-tow without anger, as are those who disagree with this ridiculous chosen process. Get a grip!

This whole is scenario certainly has done nothing from preventing this situation to become a case with fatalities. And guess who will be looking for their new free digs and create another victim of an unjust situation that only proving that crime pays. This is unbearably disgusting. Is a law being enforced to prevent this from happening again? Immediately? These are not squatters. They are nothing short of thieves and abusers absent of a moral compass. On the positive and negative aspects, do not all "legitimate" companies use underpaid workers to make overpriced product? Do not all governments control by making promises they do not fulfill, and decisions that do not appropriately benefit the general public/workers? Does the legal system actually protect us all ...or defend some better than others?Do any of us know where our money goes, who it supports, or how much goes to whom? We live in a dog eat dog world. Guelph Transit has some really good bus drivers who work well at getting us to our connections on time. (Though yes, not all drivers fit that bill) But even as a passenger it is obvious to me they are working their best in an already bad system, with bad root planning, to say nothing about the past decades of futile talks never acted upon to actually make necessary improvements. Today the city talks as if ridership is the problem. The problem is the system. Fix it and ridership would no doubt increase simply by positive change. We need not be living in a city that says its the students that mostly support transit. We know why that is! How about making the system good for all of us! Otherwise it remains student transit, not Guelph transit (few would complain about that.)Hire proper experienced city route planners: pay appropriate wages; immediately fix the system. Stop putting it off as you've been making it worse by avoidance.

Why did it take this long to be proactive? Our own representatives over the last 6 decades have so much allowed the destruction of almost all of the old downtown, old city and old rural farmhouses and barns... and even a lot of the world's best farmland. There had been no firm protection of (what was once) a rich heritage of beautiful buildings, craftsmanship of exteriors. and interiors, the best water i had tasted anywhere, a gorgeous river, etc., etc, ... and look what its done and who benefit and how. I find it shameful, disgusting , and depressing.Left to be seen how firm this bylaw will be enforced and what excuses for evasion arise.

How about taking that 250 grand, putting it into local various-type artists' work that depict how we are being so utterly invaded of privacy, subjected to absurd extreme costs, and other ungodly controls. Let's display those. OH RIGHT - we don't need that. We all know that.Why not show us what this $ is buying, and the history of how it got picked out of all the art being produced. It is absurd to not doubt city hall truly listens to transit users nor to bus drivers. THAT is a huge problem. Allowing construction and rail systems to disrupt city transit to this rediculous degree only says to the public that transit users will just have to be on retard mode for five years… and drivers and passengers will have to still get back to bus central on time, (somehow… ). Why? Because your connecting bus will be there? NOT!!!And (by the way,?) your comment saying « Anyone who is an active, affluent, and contributive member of Guelph society isn’t going to be on a Guelph Transit bus… » as if passengers are not, and/or retired or unwell folks have not been equally active, affluent, and contributive members (and still ARE) of the community is disgusting at best. But they are not listened to, i have to suppose, because of some asinine sense of superiority, better knowledge and attitude. If not that - then tell us - why city hall is not listening!

It would have made sense to make molds of the spires before removing them all. New ones could simply have been cast in any material and set in place when the old ones came down. Why did that or something similar not happen? Were the old ones destroyed before making molds?

Lol - Don't give them more ideas for money-grabs. Why does a lobbyist need to register? We are all lobbyists of sorts one way or another. That wouldn't be just another divisive concoction someone is drumming up, - would it? Presently a citizen can lobby for anything that is legal. So what does a "registered" lobbyist have, that he didn't already have besides this "registration"?

The governments need to be sued for their blatant lies, coerced manipulations, and horrifically denied appropriate management of the tax dollars (decades upon decades worth) that all these seniors put into government coffers in full and justified expectation they all would be cared for with at least proper housing. Our governments have committed malfeasance, upon their own citizens, very far beyond abuse!
