Guelph speed enforcement cameras now in these four new locations

Why not just put in speed bumps near the schools instead of taking so much money out of the community and making so many people angry? The company providing the cameras is getting lots of money.

Caron’s motion makes sense to me, especially if we avoid some service reductions.

I have had an EV for the last 5 years and would never go back to a gas car. My previous car was a hybrid and that gave me confidence to go all electric. I pay very little to drive it as it charges at home at night on the lower rates and I seldom go to a charging station, only when I am not coming home that night. Service costs have been minimal…just derusting the brakes as they are seldom used with regenerative braking. I’m convinced EV’s are here to stay.

There is no need to bottle water or drink bottle water in our area.

It would be helpful to show the closed areas on the map

I echo what Evan said, disappointing but not surprising. Plans need to have actions to get us to where we need to go.

The 30 day delay is definitely the worst part of this program. If one passes these cameras on the way to work and is unaware of them (they don't look like cameras), someone could potentially collect 2 tickets each day without knowing they were doing anything wrong for 30 days!I got 10 tickets before being notified I had done anything wrong. It cost me about $1000 with an average speed of 41 km/hr per ticket.

The 30 day delay between infraction and notification is completely unreasonable. There needs to be a way to let people know that they are exceeding the limit in a reasonable amount of time. So much money is getting taken out of the community. There needs to be a much simpler solution like flashing lights during school hours so people know to slow down. People want our kids to be safe. I think this financial grab is going escalate dramatically with these new cameras. Many people will suffer.

I firmly believe EV's will take over. They are simply a better solution and are getting more cost competitive all the time.

I have had an EV for 3.5 years and my wife and I are delighted with it. It is our only car and we have taken it on long trips like down to PEI and back. We would never even consider going back to a gas car. Our last car was a hybrid so that helped us build confidence with electric motors. We have no regular maintenance and have spent about $25 per month on electricity while charging at home. Just read an article today saying that Tesla batteries are doing very well at maintaining there efficiency even after 10 years.https://www.thecooldown.com/green-tech/tesla-battery-life-longevity-study-ev/

Hybrids can be a good first step. I did this before I bought my EV.
Curtis, is there a document somewhere that shows the split of the city vs the company in terms of who gets the money?
I wish this was outside of church time
