POLL: Most say Trudeau should go, and want early election

Canadians should wake up to the real threat to their well-being and their democracy. The real threat lies not within our borders BUT below the 49th parallel in the visible form of the dangerous and dictatorial Orange Felon DJT and his billionaire co-president Elon Musk. FM Freeland was fired before she resigned because the Orange Felon hated her. I suspect he hated her because she was a strong woman. Personally I would have preferred to have seen Trudeau empower Freeland with a Ministry of Trade Portfolio so that she could align with Claudia Sheinbaum the President of Mexico to tackle the Orange Felon's tariff threats and other hostile trade actions. Together I suspect these two women would have made his life and his misogynist ways miserable, a fitting reward for a convicted felon who has escaped the grasp of justice far too long. Be careful what you wish for Canadians. When I look around and listen the House of Commons during question period the alternatives are frightening.

Why is this even a debatable matter at this point ?? It is a no-brainer !!! The taxpayers have already paid for the stock sitting in limbo today. A Win - Win - Win is an achievable solution. 1. Doug Ford gets his victory by initiating and sustaining the USA tariff boycott related to these products; 2. The multitude of registered Charitable Organizations and the Provincial Agencies supporting the unhoused, vulnerable and the food challenged among us will be substantially funded without increasing the current Provincial Budget; and 3. Thousands of vulnerable recipients will be the direct beneficiaries of the tangible proceeds generated by selling the stock off as opposed to pouring this stock down the drain in which case no one will win including Premier Ford who has already made his point.

Another great deal by the City of Guelph. City ( taxpayers ) keeps 8.6% of the revenue and some private investor gets 91.4% With deal-making like this no wonder we are getting hammered on our property taxes year after year after year. Take a bow Mayor and Council and give your selves a 33% salary increase.

If you were somehow still on the fence about that Mad Malicious Mango Mussolini south of our border before reading this article, well glad to see you are fully awoke now. This is just the beginning of his demented defilement of democracy and decency. Those pundits were right, the US civil war never really ended. The rest of the world is paying dearly now for the destructive divide that exists between those MAGA pro Trumpers and the Never Trumpers. God please help us M ake ... A dolf2 ... G o ... A way.

Let the parties sort it out. Its a pretty sensitive and deeply personal matter. Please don't deepen the divide further.

O Canada. Our home and native land. The True North strong and free. God keep our land glorious and free. True patriot's love in all of us command. How soon some of us forget the purpose and intent of these words, EH. A depraved and morally corrupt Orange Dictator south of the 49th paralell comes along looking to annex our heritage in Hitler-like fashion and some of us want to jump ship and look elsewhere for a saviour. Canada is the envy of the world for it's inclusive, compassionate and dignified egalitarian qulaities. We stand alone as a shining example to the rest of the world on how a people and a democracy are suppose to function. The words "WE STAND ON GUARD FOR THEE" mean something to me. Enough talk about panicking our proud Canuck derriers out of an imaginary fire premised soley on fear and right into the detructive proverbial frying pan. A frying pan controlled by non-Canadian entities, likely void of everything our forefathers fought and died to preserve. Stay resolute, EH.

Another "Who Done It" article with zero informative content on "What they did." The irony here is that it is followed by a strange invitation for comments section. Just curious, where was the invitation for comment section(s) that should have followed articles this week on the confusing GPS $300K budget surplus; the even more convoluted GPS article on response times to police calls; and the long disgraceful, protracted discipline saga of suspended, paid GPS officer Corey McArthur. Again, just curious.

Where are the Clowns. There ought to be Clowns. Quick send in the Clowns. Don't bother there here. Maybe next year.

A quote from the Honourable Mayor Guthrie on the matter. "The where and the location is an honourable discussion to be had." Could someone please explain for me just what the hell that statement means. It's an honourable inquiry!! Cheers.

Give the woman a chance. In the 2026 election judge her with your vote, not by the process that got her appointed to fill a vacant seat for the balance of the term, but for her performance over the next year. Her credentials are impressive. She may turn out to be a blessing on Council. Maybe back off the stereotypical [ albeit often waranted ] negative comments about council in this case and give the woman a chance. I personally do not know her from a hill of beans but I am willing to give her a chance. Congratulations and good luck Ms. Hauser.

Hmmm, coffins and urns made of fully biodegradable mushrooms. My trip to eternity just got a little less anxious. Contemplating the possibility of a magic transport to paradise in a golden top 'psilocybe subaeruginosa terramation' shroud, sounds like a real trip. A more dignified composting solution compared to that trip to the curb in a smelly green organic waste bucket suggested by my friends. :-)

What little confidence I had in this Mayor and Council disappeared in the opening line of this article: "In light of some late adjustments to the Police and Library budgets, the overall property tax increase in 2026 will be 7.87%" All too often the Mayor and Council are relying on making miniscule 'late adjustments' to operating budgets in response to public outcry. Real leadership should be revealed in the 'early adjustment' phase of developing operating budgets. Too little ...... too late.

Spot on @ k Laird. You put your finger on what draws people towards the rustic charm and welcoming ambience of the streets, shops and environs of small towns like Elora, St. Jacobs Niagara on the Lake, downtown Oakville etc etc just to name a few of the successful quaint downtowns in Ontario. Perhaps the secret to their success is what they don't have - - what these desirable small town venues don't have is a plethora of fast food joints, weed vendors and more bar stools than parking spaces all geared to drawing herds of late night party line ups and the trouble that follows. The people who care about the downtown are understandably drawn to the safety, charm and pleasantry of those thriving small towns that have found the solution to the downtown problems Guelph has been lamenting for decades.

Who goes to the Humane Society and adopts feral cats the people at GHS have rescued and healed, brings them home and then lets them run wild outdoors every day and night in their neighborhood, killing birds, bully other cats and damage property. My neighbor that is who!! Where is the logic in that? If someone genuinely cared for a cats well-being they would use a leash and provide effective supervision when and if it is necessary to let them outdoors.

Just curious ....... will there be a half dozen underground tunnels constructed below this 24 storey student housing monument funneling directly into the half dozen downtown bars nearby where the students usually line up in ridiculously long droves on most nights gathering to drink and socialize as closing time approaches ....... and one dedicated tunnel leading to the GPS station across the street where a select few will end up for public intoxication and unlawful behavior? OK students bring on the thumbs down :-)

I disagree @ HL. The first order of developing a smart strategy in any trade war is to reach out and align your allies before walking blind into a potential "Trimp v Zelenskyy 2" excrement show. A shameful, staged ambush by the dishonest and despicable, morally corrupt dictator to the south, surrounded by his band of sycophant thieves and maga autocratic despots. Please do not play the insulting TDS card. Anyone who supports Trump's Maga plans to annex Canada by economic or physical force needs to have their head read or apply for US citizenship. You have a right to your opinion, however you significantly dilute that right when you fail to come out against enemy forces that attempt to assail your Countries identity and sovereignty. Carney did the right thing not submitting to Trump's demand that he be treated like the Emperor of the West. Give Carney a chance to stand up to Trump and be the voice for proud Canadians who will never bow to a felonious, twice-impeached incendiary moron.

That image cuts deeply! Sad to view an aerial photo of our City Centre's skyline that includes the [former] gothic, architecturally iconic spires atop the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate. In looking at our City's skyline today, the absence of these spires is a painful reminder of other culturally significant architectural gems and heritage buildings that have been lost forever.I submitted many Letters to the Editor in the past 3 years since the spires were removed by the Church due to deterioration and safety concerns. While replacement costs were deemed prohibitive at the time, future alternative restoration efforts remained under review.Developing Guelph's Centennial Celebration Plan for April 2027, the timing is ripe to again raise the issue of the missing spires. Including the spire restoration in planning our goals and objectives under consideration by the working groups referenced in this article makes sense, in concert with the Church and the Hamilton Diocese of course.

Is the nesting bird invisible? This story would have had greater impact from the perspective of public interest if a natural photo of the nest in question accompanied the article. Hundreds of people walk the riverside every day and I expect like me they were curious as to why they had to look at a gross river bed for months. Obtaining and sharing a telephoto image of the nesting itself would not constitute a disturbance or threat to the migratory species. This has now become an educational matter and I am sure the school children would benefit from understanding why the river in this area is virtually dry.

Please publish a follow up article WHEN THE EXACT NATURE OF THE COMPLAINTS IS KNOWN otherwise this information has no tangible informative value. Jesus, these days everybody is complaining about something to someone somewhere sometime. If I hear that 627 complaints were filed about me last year, I may just be curious enough to learn just what those complaints were. You know, so I can complain about the complainers. Have a great day.
