Circle K reports more than $200,000 in losses from crime in Thunder Bay

Unfortunately crime has gotten so bad in this city that most businesses like Circle K that used to be open 24hrs are no longer open in the middle of the night. Even Metro on Arthur (when it was A & P) used to be open 24hrs.

Where's the accountability for the manager(s) for allowing this boat to deteriorate and sink in the first place?

Unfortunately I'm not surprised.I was mentioning to our two daughters the various businesses that used to be open 24hrs in this city, that have since done away with their night shifts.

Walbourne not guilty

Without being disrespectful, I don't think readers can pass judgment on any criminal case without knowing all of the evidence, testimony or aspects of the law in which the charges were laid.

One would think that the city would want to spur economic growth, not kill it.

I see that the Liberals are getting desperate.

"...because it's up to us to support injured workers in Ontario..." What a joke! There are countless injured workers across Ontario who will argue that WSIB has given them nothing but grief. Many have had various benefits denied, including treatments that are needed in order for them to recover from their injury/illnes.

Lakehead University will soon be offering a Vertinary program which peaked our interest as our youngest daughter wants to become a Veterinarian. However, we learned that students could only take the first two years here at Lakehead and then have to complete the remaining two years in Guelph.https://www.northernontariobusiness.com/industry-news/training-education/lakehead-university-now-targeting-2025-start-for-vet-program-7661500We were not impressed by this at all. If a program is going to be offered at either the College or University, it should be the entire program.

Indoor Turf Facility and an indoor Tennis bubble. What's next a huge dome to be built over the entire city like Logun's Run?Yes I'm being sarcastic.

This is sad to see as both of our daughters bowled 5 Pin at Galaxy with YBC for well over ten years. We shared many fond memories with the other bowlers and their families. We will miss the staff, coaches and many others.

I was a front line Nurse for over 15 years. Nurses experience so many ridiculous challenges because they are collectively viewed by many employers, governments, etc. as nothing more than a bunch of women.“Also, because most nurses are women, nurses are often seen as working to supplement a husband’s income, and not to earn an income in their own right. Their concerns, financial and otherwise, are therefore viewed as quite trivial.” Callaghan & Tepperman, 1993.In over 30 years, essentially nothing has changed. With many health care employers, their workforce (including Nurses) is approximately 70% Part Time staff. Yet, you look at male dominated essential services like Police and Fire, they are nearly 100% Full Time.

Unfortunately Thunder Bay hasn't had a clear vision in about 30 years. Thunder Bay has alot of potential, but it has lacked clear leadership.

As many have said, the two MP's here are mere Trudeau puppets.

Any project of this size should have been put as a vote during the last municipal election.

We were trying to find information about City Transit this morning. On Transits website there's a section called "Service Alerts". https://www.thunderbay.ca/en/city-services/service-alerts.aspxClicking onto to it, it says:"Check this section regularily for news and information on service detours and other important events or issues that may affect your commute."As of 08:55 this morning, this has not been updated. My daughter found out her bus was cancelled by using Google Maps this morning, but tried to get clarification on Transit's website. Not everyone uses Facebook. For Transit not to update their "Service Alerts" page on their site for this morning is completely unacceptable!!!

On the surface this sounds like great news. However, as indicated students will be completing their first two years here and then having to go to Quelph to complete their final 2 years. There will likely be many students who will end up dropping out of the program after their first two years as they will be unable to afford going to Guelph to complete the final 2 years. The local program should be set up so that a person can complete the entire program here.
