Your purchasing power has been decimated by the reckless printing of money, That's the greatest tax of all because we'll blame greedy business people rather than those responsible in government!!!

So we can't compete in Canada due to cheap steel being dumped in the Canadian market & our politicians want to blame the USA. Maybe a 50% tariff on Chinese steel would be a good place to start, or shall we make it 100% !!!

Amazing how our leadership reacted to tariffs affecting Americans by tariffing the heck out of Canadians, just so they don't seem weak. A head to head trade war with the US will be economically disastrous for Canada in spite of the bite that Americans might feel. Our chances of winning a trade war with the USA are about as likely as Ukraine bringing the Russians to their knees. The solution to this is to negotiate and enhance the economic relationship with a country that borders us and shares language & values. The overlap of Canada 1st & America 1st initiatives is significant & the best opportunities typically come from the toughest adversarial climates!

Is tourism still Sault Ste Marie Ontario's second largest industry, or is it now the largest? Do Americans represent the majority of that tourism piece?

A shame that Soo conservatives can't determine who their nominee will be. A stark reminder of the Sudbury liberal fiasco of a few years ago involving Gerry Lougheed & Andrew Olivier. Seems that the the only sniff at democracy is that you get to vote for the folks your trusted government has appointed!

You are so right! When Trump adds tax cuts to US citizens to counter the impact of tariffs on Americans, then how will our Canadian "Dream Team" respond? Will they cut both income tax and carbon tax, or will that be Trumps check-mate? I don't think Trump is responsible for a 40% drop in Canadians standard of living versus the US in the last 10 years !

Ford is not authorized to apply tariffs or duties on imports or exports. That is a federal responsibility! ......"Therefore, provincial governments in Canada do not have the authority to impose import or export tariffs independently; such actions are reserved for the federal government."
