Thank you to the 4 councillors who signed this! I get it now - endorse ford, get strong mayor powers. This has clearly been in the works for quite some time. Absolutely shameful Mayor Mcisaac.

Very well said. For all this talk about the mayor’s experience in leadership, I’ve failed to see it on many occasions. From losing key budget votes in his first year,to unnecessary snarky remarks to council members at meetings, and now this. He has lost the confidence of the public and council and should resign.

It is much more than that, although that alone is enough in my books. A few weeks ago council spoke out against the use of SMP. The mayor then went behind council’s back and used the emergency to ask for SMP. He then fired Mr. Lee without any prior discussion with Council. The Mayor has NOT saved the city money. He has damaged its reputation and taxpayers will be on the hook for Mr. Lee’s salary and any damages.

Nice try McIsaac. More misdirection and hoping this will help the firing of Mr. Lee be forgotten. It’s insulting.

The mayor and his henchmen trying to pull another fast one. Just following policy? Good grief.

The mayor continues to obfuscate both in his statements to the media and on social media. The mayor’s outright disregard for public opinion and that of his council is beyond concerning at the point. Glad most see this for what it is.

Keep up the great work councillors fallis, durnford, and those who signed the petition! Any reason why the meeting isn’t being live streamed?

No doubt because the mayor doesn’t want the public to see. This should be live-streamed like every other meeting.

Based on this comment section, I can’t imagine why…

And once again the city is being vague on whether this meeting will be live-streamed. The agenda has been posted and says “the meeting may be live-streamed”. The absolute disregard for council and the public is shocking.

Thank you! Let’s hope it makes a difference.

Thank you to the councillors who forced and supported this meeting! It may not have been what folks were expecting but it served to keep the pressure on and provide an outlet for what many in our community are feeling regarding the actions of the mayor - disgust. Important questions were asked. I look forward to the next meeting. Keep it up!

Campbell’s comments were bang on. You’re telling me someone couldn’t have learned how to livestream in 4 days? Who does the clerk report to on staff….

The mayor’s veto is nothing but a cheap political stunt that quite literally passes the buck. Kudos to the members initiating the attempt to override.

I’m not sure when city staff became so obstructionist…getting tired of the talking heads repeating the words policy over and over again. This does nothing when there are clearly issues around town. Thank you to Jeff, Ralph, and Jay for standing up to the staff.
13
Can the rest of council use a veto themselves to overturn his egregious misuse of taxpayer money??

The discussion on $1750 was embarrassing. The time it took to figure it out cost more.

The CAO* and his disrespectful comments and mischaracterization of the positions of our elected officials is concerning.

The YouTube feed was terrible, cutting off and buffering every minute. Remarkably, no other meeting I’ve watched recently has had this issue…
13
Exactly. He was talking out of both sides the entire meeting. Kudos to the members of council who held his feet to the fire. Keep it up!
