GPS has the largest budget in the city. Perhaps Mr Guthrie and council could work with them to come up with a more proactive approach to the problem. If this is a growing problem as the article states then it illustrates the city's failure to act to address it. Burdening property owners with additional expense is not a solution nor is it addressing the problem adequately.
I'm all for saving containers from landfill and people being able to use their own, however:I do wonder about the food safety aspect. A container can appear clean yet carry food borne bacteria if not washed properly. That bacteria transfers to the food handlers gloves and possibly on to the next container. Food handlers do not change gloves after dealing with every order. When using a food service container it is sterile, contamination is much less likely.Who pays for the extra gloves if food service employees do end up changing gloves every order? Who pays for the extra time incurred?Cam and council need to take off the "look at the wonderful things we're doing" hats and think things through. This bylaw as well as the have business owners be financially responsible for graffiti removal is a short sighted knee-jerk reaction. Post covid food services have had a hard enough time surviving without this agenda. How about do something to support them for a change.
