But if Trump follows through on this it will be highly inflationary and not just on imported goods. Domestic manufacturers will have to pay extra to import needed materials and others will take advantage of higher prices for imported goods to raise their own prices and profits. I suspect the extra revenue will be used to allow tax cuts but not for average Americans.

They should think of the effect that excessive amounts of nutrients have on living organisms. Here is a clue: Is obesity or just being overweight beneficial? Plants are like humans, dogs, and goldfish in that they do not function well when overweight or fed too much. And that is not to mention the increased impact on soil and use of fertilizers.
