One thing the NDP/Liberal type of thinking is said to be good at , is pushing the working middle class down into the poverty range.

"Stop industry" ? Do you realize how quick the honeypot will dry up ?No forestry, no mining, no manufacturing, reduced power , oil and gas , shipping ,, ?Does not sound like a good plan. Doubly so near the tail end of this last 9 years. We need exactly the opposite so that everyone can keep food on the table, power and heat on, and to give people jobs so they have a sense of participating (which builds a country).

Heard that on the radio too.. that some homeless are turning down shelter because they cant have visitors or guests stay over.Strange situation to be picky about.Isn't this about surviving ?

I suspect the thinking is.. a soccer facility (or a marina etc) attracts new taxpayers to the city. Housing the homeless attracts more non-taxpayers to the city.

Im not sure that's the only reason Ross.Could we not also say people voted for Harris because the promise of sunny ways and a better economy was touted as a policy of Harris ? Maybe it's more about which leader/party that they feel is believable.Massively outbalanced campaign spending and all the MSM behind her saying she's the most believable, best choice... and she still lost by a large amount. I think the whole deal displays two things - people dont trust the "left" when they say that today's Dem (or Lib) policy is a better choice, and they dont trust the MSM that sing from the same songbook. In less than a year, we'll have the same thing play out here. People are finally fed up with the baloney. (there's a ton of other reasons too , but I'll stop here)

Of course it should be on land down by the Henry, as a historical item. The expensive part of removing it out of the river is done. Easier now to crane it onto a barge and then crane it into a hole (depth to match the normal draft) somewhere near the Henry.Visitors think of this as "The Lakehead", the top of the Great Lakes. I mean really... are they penny wise and pound foolish ?

Seems to be an aspect missing here. Why did a transport blow thru a red light at full speed ?What we have is a transport driver with a complete lack of concern for human life and/or an inability to properly operate what he/she has been permitted to drive. This will continue unless we keep the pressure up on politicians to enforce regulations.

Never gonna happen. Not close enough to the things they want to be near.

Thank you OPP. Now hopefuly some of those charges don't get waived, and there is an appropriate penalty for putting lives at risk. Removal of commercial rating would work for me.

Remember when cheerleaders said busses hauling people here from out of town would have a hard time finding parking ? I've only been in a few times, dropped a coupla hundred total. When you look around, all you see is glum faces. Good times lol.

The money tree had to stop growing at some point. We probably have enough small business, restaurant and hotel managers, but we could help foreign students pivot to courses in indigenous health care. Wouldnt that be a win-win ?

@Mark - So, borrowing more money to help make the cost of living more expensive for everyone ?

Nice to see some logical thinking, albeit in the sunset time of politics. Sorry, not sorry. There's a 0% chance of me voting Lib.

So.. just leaving the middle class hung out to dry again eh ?We can do the work, keep the economy moving by spending all of our money, pay a high % of tax, and then dont expect any relief when it comes to green grants. Thanks NDP/Liberal government.

Its eyebrow raising how many times they have to roll per day for people making bad choices.

I like the idea of only allowing jobs that pay "living wage" or higher to participate.Otherwise you're just sorta stuffing the local economy with people willing to work for whatever a low-wage employer wants to pay. Supply and demand.

Anyone who has been around the sun more than a few dozen times can remember many times when the best science of the day told us that 'xx' was going to happen.. and then it didnt. The scientists and politicians of the day were certain. Some people panicked, most didnt. By now we should have been cooked, then frozen, then starved, then cooked again. But.. *this* time they're certain. I suspect what happens is some group predicts something that isnt certain but plausible, and then occasionally it snowballs into a mass-effect. Something like a stampede of people for some small root cause. Regardless, if we're sure the "Science is settled" (this time), should we not spend more effort preparing for the change ? We could spend hundred of billions to dampen Canada's miniscule effect on the global atmosphere, and still end up with disaster. Is it not odd that we dont see our 'leaders' criticizing the largest global polluters ?
