This project should have never been allowed to start. Are any of the board of directors today the same as they were when the project began - or did they simply turn it over to others to find how to solve an unsolvable problem? They bit off more than they could chew. The gallery on Confederation College premises is all that was needed in my humble view.
This project is simply too expensive for the limited use it will get. Our city has better places to spend funds on - starting with the deplorable conditions of our roads.
I can see drinks getting spilled on people when attempting to get to seats and I can see spillage damaging the material on the chairs. Plus added cleaning staff costs to pick up litter. This is a mistake in the making and poorly thought out. Please rethink.
I wonder who, other than city employees, actually uses this parkade? And I wonder if our city employees get a discount for its use? If so does their T4, at calendar year end, reflect such an employee benefit? Just wondering…
The Fort William Gardens is adequate for our needs and does not need to be replaced. We no longer have thousands in attendance as we did when the baby boomer generation was growing up. The new year indoor soccer field will impact on hockey in the future and possibly the new year round tennis bubble might also. The consultants will tell city staff exactly what the city staff want them to say which is that we need new shiny things. this is a con game. Save our tax money and do not hire them. As for the comment, build it and they will come. I doubt the art gallery under construction will ever be a major draw paying for itself. Another drain on taxpayers that had no say in the matter. The present cost to visit the existing gallery is $5.00. What will the entrance fee have to now be increased to to cover overhead? Council needs to listen to the silent majority and not the vocal few.
