Ridiculous that this has to come from the government and not from the schools themselves. When kids are in the classroom it is for learning, not for socializing on their phones.
Exactly this. Before of bulldozing any greenspace for housing, the city needs to bulldoze pretty much all of Simpson street and any other derelict properties. Keep greenspace, remove eyesores. Win win.
There’s a huge difference between being homeless and just taking advantage of the current “human rights” approach. Weed out the later and send them packing.
There should be no encampments period. If they can be housed over the winter, then lack of housing isn’t the issue. One city has banned daytime camping on its property. They can pitch a tent to sleep in if they want, but have to take it down during the day. Seems like an easy solution to discourage encampments.
Good grief. Rydens is $4 American, so 5 bucks Canadian isn’t bad if you’re worried about a parcel being stolen. People generally go into business to make a buck. Curmudgeon much?
Why on parkland? We’re already giving up park space parks for homeless encampments and rental units. No, find a location that’s already been developed.
Jazzy and John - that’s what I mean by ridiculous - that pandering to parents/kids has resulted in the need for the government to intervene. It should never have gone so far.
No. Most odours are in gas form, which is a much smaller size than a virus. That said, surgical masks aren’t sealed to your face, so yeah, there’s leakage. They are still effective at reducing the amount of virus that infected people spew out, so that helps. Wear an N95 to protect yourself.
This boils down to ‘lock them in an institution so that I don’t have to see them when I drive my kids to soccer’. And apparently no further funding will be required once that institution has been built? Someone hasn’t thought this through.
Would the intercity area be better? Port Arthur? Someplace in the middle of nowhere? So easy to criticize, but someone in your position should be able to offer concrete solutions, instead of referring to vague ‘comprehensive solutions’.Keep in mind that the agencies that are on the ground dealing with the problem back this plan. Maybe you should step up to the plate and work with them, Mr. MP.
