'Really severe' incident leaves Brodie Street library staff member shaken up

Over 500 incidents? That is absolutely wild for a library! No wonder people stray away from attending these facilities. Why would people want to bring their children here when they could be exposed to this. No fault of the library, not like they have signs up asking for this. This is just another sad story of what has become our city.

I'd be curious to know the stats for complaints now that body cameras are employed. God job TBPS!!

20 Firms and oh look, Tom Jones will build. And I'd like to predict right now that it will be overbudget.

Name them and shame them. TBPS used to name those charged, time to pick it back up.

They should be wearing helmets. They should've had respect for laws, should've stopped when police attempted. It's called ownership for one's actions, which these people lacked. This is nobody's fault except those who engaged in the behavior. I drive from my home to an area to ride, driven past police many times, guess what...they leave me be as I am following the laws.

10 Days to complete 660 Metres of asphalt. Love our city and how efficient they are. Don't suppose they explored completing this in the evening/night to be less disruptive to the citizens of our city.

The absolute appropriate outcome for this! This is a good outcome for the officers involved.

Shows the true care and compassion of our city. I am the only one who finds it quite concerning that news of that nature is delivered by phone? Why is that not done in person?

I'd be upset too if all the strike did was prove that their service isn't really required. I'm sure there's other companies that'll gladly ship. As for bills, electronic delivery. Just saved them 750 million dollars.

I appreciate our new city manager breaking things down like this.

Exactly this!! We have a seasonal camp as well. I DO NOT leave my firearms there ever! They come back and forth with me each trip and absolutely DO NOT stay there over the winter. This is irresponsible ownership which unfortunately tarnishes those who follow the law.

Or continue to wait for the government to help you. I for one will utilize these services if the need arises. Free options are out there, use those if you're so against this system. As Dave3 pointed out, those that can afford and choose this route alleviate the pressures on the system as a whole. This isn't money out of your pocket or tax dollars so how is this so bad for you?

How is there such a gross cost difference between the 2 sport facilities? This tennis facility I actually support as it is cost shared thus alleviating some of the burden. This legacy project of a few for soccer is insulting and should be put back into the private sector to fund. Our taxpayer pot is not endless.

2 separate incidents, that were aware of that speak to the type of behaviour she demonstrates while being an elected official for our city. What is the point of the integrity commissioner if all we're going to do is the opposite of their recommendation?

Go to the actual news release by the TBPS, this page omitted the names, police did not

The owner has been selling off items on social media. I'd say he's selling things off from the business.

This seems like an absurd way to spend money. How many women and families could've been assisted with this money? Appears to me that their executive leadership takes a lot of trips on behalf of ONWA. New York appears to be a favorite of theirs also. Posting all over social media is a slap in the face to those struggling.

So most other cities have already done this and now this is news for Thunder Bay? This city is so far behind on the times it is just sad. Many wonder why we don't have a more diverse commercial sector, one only has to read the news to know why. Remember within the past year when the city started taking debit and that was a giant leap for them? Kenora, a city much smaller than us beat us to the punch on this. Also, lets pay a consultant to eat up any profit that could've been made from this. Just call them and ask a question, are you telling me there isn't a single city staffer capable of making a inquiry on this?

They're noted as seasonal thus meaning not their permanent residence. The conclusions I am jumping to apparently is that it is irresponsible of people to leave firearms in an unsupervised, seasonal location like this. Our family has a seasonal property as I said and I would never do this and we go there on occasion in the winter. Unfortunately this is the current climate of society and people should plan accordingly. If you choose to live a life without thinking of what the consequences could be, then this is the result. I do not feel bad for the person who had this firearm stolen.

And this individual was arrested by TBPS 2 years ago in a drug raid, charged with multiple drug offenses. Our fantastic legal system at work.
