Many homeowners are already struggling to make ends meet and the increasing costs to operate a home or pay rent make it very difficult for those on fixed and low incomes.

It would appear that Mark Carneau would be the better leader and many Canadians are willing to give him the chance.

Where's the plebiscite and the million dollars from Soccer Northwest?

So let's pour $50 million dollars into building a tax supported indooor turf facility that taxpayers couldn't vote on.

Council swallowed the hook line and sinker when Michael Venezaile president of soccer Northwest told council the facility could be built for under $20 million dollars and that he was going to raise $1 million dollars towards the cost. Now taxpayers are looking at over $52 million when approximately $10 million of interest on a $19 million dollar loan is included in the cost..Is it any wonder the city's debt is over $200 million dollars and the shortfall on maintaining existing infrastructure is over $30 million dollars each year. This irresponsible spending by council is the very reason the City of Thunder Bay has the highest taxes in Northern Ontario and the second highest in the entire province.Where's the plebiscite and what excuse does Michael Venezaille use now to avoid his promise to raise $1 million dollars?

The city has spent over 4 years pursuing an unaffordable $ 55 million dollar indoor soccer facility. This is the city's priority.

The city's high taxes will only put more seniors and others out into the streets.

What kind of stability will this bring to the downtown south core? May and Miles Street is located within a block or two of four bars and two canabis stores.

That indoor turf fund came from taxpayers like me and should not be wasted on an over priced Facility that should be built by the private sector .Provincial or municipal dollars this is still our money. Despite all this the city is also taking out a $ 15 million dollar debenture that will add to the city's total debt of over 190 million dollars.

What the mayor failed to mention was the city's total debt of over 200,000 million and the $15 million dollars needed annually to service this debt. He also did not mention the city's high taxes and tax rates. (second highest in the entire province) Nor did he mention the city's inability to control spending and staffing levels. Finally he did not mention the fact that the public has no say on major expenditures like the $57 million dollar indoor turf facility. There should have been a plebiscite.

Great news for the entire city of Thunder Bay and especially the dedicated workers at the Alstom Plant.

So the Art Gallery never responded to Tb newswatch on their fundraising looking for another 5 million dollars , nor did they state what the final cost would be. They have most likely raised the same as the indoor turf people. Nothing.

Where is the funding coming from? Why does city administration and some councilors think that taxpayers should be on the hook for this? There is no commitment from any level of government.

He sounds better than our reps and staff at City Hall who have put an end to public deputations at City hall at tax time and did not let the public vote on the proposed $ 57 million dollar indoor soccer plex.

It needs to get resolved. This strike is hurtingeveryone and is helping no one.

In Edmonton the private sector paid for most of the 7 million dollar largest dome facility in Canada. The private sector also runs this facility with no city employees. Thunder Bay could build 6 facilities like this for the $57 million tax payer dollars their spending here. Is it any wonder our taxes, water rates and city debt are so high.

Hope I get my $200 cheque sooner than later from Doug Ford to help pay for my house taxes that have gone up by approximately $ 350 dollars in just 2 years thanks to council's inability to control spending.

It's a bad investment and most taxpayers have no interest in supporting it. Why are the taxpayers providing huge sums each year for operating expenses and its not even open yet? Over 400,000 dollars this year alone and this is only the tip of the iceberg. The taxpayers will likely be on the hook for millions each year just to keep the doors open. I agree council is flittering our tax dollars down the drain.

I have talked to many of the business owners in the downtown south ward and no one supports this proposed location. Putting a homeless village on Miles Street near Simpson Street makes no sense. With 4 bars and a cannabis store within close proximity this location is unsuitable for the homeless, many who have serious addictions.
