This landlord should be publicly named so others won't become victims to him as well.

Burnouts were a huge part of street car history. Im sure the "polution" from an hour of fun, is really going to top of his cars' polution as he drives to work daily. Let's also stop the "noise" polutuon from all the bands that play at the downtown plaza, RotaryFest and Belview park, not to mention the bars along Queen that have music ( loud) every weekend. (I'm being sarcastic here...) but come on! Really? Why not people have fun? For only 2 or 3 nights in the summer. I think you went a little bit overboard with polusion vs historical fun.

Kids need to be educated on what's really going on in the world! Not that they'd even notice the sign, with their heads buried in their phones!

The extra tariffs Trump has put on since the contract was first signed is not part of the contract, and Algoma Steel did not agree to the tariffs in the contract so therefore the co tract is null and void, thanks to Trump. Algoma steel should not be held accountable for "breaking" the contract. That's all on Trump!

If the riff-raff was cleaned up first, then the downtown core "may" revitalize itself, having more people willing to actually shop, and having more variety of stores available for people to actually want to shop in. Then the city can think about spending money on trees, (which would require digging up the newly installed sidewalks..again..) benches and patios. ( it seems like every restaurant already has nice patios) it seems like the whole city residents are crying for the druggies and homeless contingent to be removed from downtown, but will the city listen? No. They have their own adgenda. Security and police patrols haven't been able to do much. Cars can only go into certain areas, where the riff-raff don't hang out. And if they are apprehended, they get a slap on the wrist and told don't do it again. Hahaha. And to renovate the plaza after such a short history there is laughable. Give me a break! OMG!!

Makes departures smoother and gives passengers more time to enjoy the canyon...like maybe all of 5 minutes?? What horrible place to make visitors go to catch a "Tourist Train" Right in the middle of all the shutting trains, no visible parking spots other than right in front of the mainenance doors, and very poor lighting. And getting into the yard, you could get hit by a train crossing back and forth across the entrance. There are two tracks you need to watch for. ...once you find the entrance! It's poorly marked. What an extremely poor decision for attracting tourists!!

I totally agree with the police warning and to the comments here. If a concerned citizen breaks your window to get a child/animal/senior person out, they should not be charged! Get them out first then call 911. Oe have someone call as you are breaking the windows. The only charges should be to the driver! And severe charges too!

I think that more "affordable" housing or "geated-to-income" housing should be utmost in the housing area. $1200 a month for a studio apartment in the Soo is way out of line. Many people here work minimum wage jobs, and can't afford that. Or are on Social Assustance, which allows about $600 for rent including utilities for a single person. The rest of the check either goes to rent or food, but not both. No wonder we have a homeless and drug problem. We aren't Toronto, but the "Landlords" from Toronto, who purchase properties here and rent them out at Toronto prices, are typically absentee owners, who let the properties fall apart and don't do necessary repairs for the tenants. The new apartments that are going up certainly aren't within "affordable" rates. I thought that's what these apartments were supposed to be!. Maybe $1800 for a one bedroom is affordable in Toronto. Being on a pension, all my pension would go for rent. I would be hitting the food banks daily, or going hungry.

No consideration for the little business owner who is trying to help local downtown (lower income) residents afford to live abit more comfortably. He had plans to make the store accessible, but couldn't actually build a ramp due to winter snow. City Hall couldn't even give him an extension til March? Plus, he just had a major issue with his prime location due to winter ice. But, I see the old hospital is still standing. Months after the sale was finalized. Did the previous owners pay on their due date? Or the city pay for passing their own "due date"?. Who paid for the extra costs for all that equipment sat still? Seems impossible our City Council let's the bigger offenders get away with non payments and non conformity to the rules, but lean on the small guys who are just trying to help. Sure, "Rules are rules", but city council seems to bend them to suit their own needs. No compasion there at all! No consideration to the fact that winter weather doesn't always act nice.

Plus the fact that they gave him one week to close? Even legal layoffs give minimun 2 weeks notice!. Is this even legal or is City council just pulling a "trump"?

Yes, they have those. And will be adding to their hot meals buffet counter later as well.

Somewhere in those hours, the equipment has to be refuled. Plus the operators may need a P-break. Or eat something. But maybe you thought the excess snow would satisfy those needs?

The picture of the housing project on Mulberry Street sure doesn't look like "affordable housing" . I thought the Soo was desperate for affordable housing.

If you read the article, they actually did ask drivers to slow down. As well as offering other suggestions to jeep pedestrians (and other vehicles) safe.

Seems to me that the Province of Ontario is from Barrie south. The governments (Federal & Provincial) have always neglected us up here. Ar one point, it was suggested that the northern part of Ontario should become a separate province. Kind of like the Dakotas or the Carolinas. Then maybe as a separate province, we'd get the necessary funds to fix our highways. No matter how hard our representatives try to ask for any help in parliament, we're shoved to the back of the line. Not saying we should separate from Canada, but come on parliament! Lives matter to us up here! And our highways need to be updated to accommodate the amount of traffic (commercial) that travel them. I am seeing a start on the quality of commercial trucking companies being held responsible for shoddy maintenance and on unqualified "drivers" being given licenses on a half hour test, on flat ground (Southern Ontario) and in summer conditions, who buy their licences . Enough deaths!! Fix our Northern highways!

Millions of dollars were spent on adding warning labels to cigarettes and that did no good. Studies showed people didn't read them. Nor did it have any effect. This is another money grab for the government groups that want the taxpayers to pay for a really stupid idea. If people don't know by now, what alcohol can/may do ( everybody has a different reaction to alcohol) we are doomed. I say NO!

Isn't the Soo doing that now with the methadone clinics and help from SOYA? It may be working somewhat in Europe, but not here.
