Where's the "bullying"? An allegation was made during an open city council meeting. The journalist did their job to investigate a possible new story based on public information. The journalist used the proper channels to get information, the FOI request. Upon receiving the requested information, they proceeded to report on their findings. Before publishing, Councilor Caputo was invited to provide commentary, and refused. That's not bullying, that's the free press doing their job properly.
Constituency associations are NOT dissolved when an election is called. As a former executive of local constituency association, I can verify that is a lie. Let the conservative lie machine roll.
Same building, same property but a tax break because people don't want to shop there? Do we get tax breaks when our kids grow up and move out? Tax laws in this country need to change
Return to office because that's what other guys are doing? Isn't that the same as the old peer pressure example of if everyone else jumps off the bridge then you should too? How about base decisions on actual facts? Employees are happier, healthier and more productive at home
These comments are making me sick. I grew up in this community. Most of my life included people taking pride in their community and volunteering a part of they time to pitch in and clean up a little. WE only get nice things if WE all pitch in to make this a better place.
A councilor is hired (elected) by the people to represent the people. City staff shouldn't have the power to remove them. They should only be removed by the public that elected them and not city staff who are not directly accountable to the public.
Our current FPTP system is a mockery of democracy. Elected officials don't represent the people of their riding. Libs and Cons blindly vote with the party, even if it will hurt those that they represent. Candidates/parties outside of the big two are always underrepresented. You can't claim majority rule with less than 40% of the vote.
The DTA asked for local improvements paid for by everyone else. And while the improvements (that they asked for) are taking place, they want financial compensation for the inconvenience caused by the improvement process?
What is the status of the well water? Any commercial development would require access to safe drinking water. And it is illegal for draw drinking water directly from the lake for commercial use. If the water issue that closed the campground isn't resolved, then this whole RFP process is dead before it starts.
I noticed the other day that the hydrants along black road, where there are minimal homes, were all cleared neatly. Meanwhile hydrants in more denser residential areas weren't touched. Whoever is doing the clearing should prioritize based on which hydrant is likely to be needed first.
What do people think public servants do? A very small fraction are the people who answer the phone from the public or are that slacker down the street. Most are office employees with job descriptions nearly identical to private sector equivalents. Like in any workplace, if the work doesn't get done, you get fired. If you have never worked in such a role in a modern office, how can you comment on the topic without sounding painfully ignorant. And if you work in an office full time doing work that can be done from home, stop being jealous and have a conversation with your employer about changing how you work.
Days before election call and Ross magically shows up with money. Nice try to buy votes at the last minute instead of doing a better job the past few years instead.
We're not addicted to parking. North America is addicted to driving. We design our cities under the assumption that everyone will drive. Every major city planning exercise incorporates the assumption that everyone will need car access to everything. Paid parking is simply an attempt to make a profit off of people's addiction.
