Local nurses and CUPE criticize Fedeli over healthcare cuts

It's easy to make these tough decisions when they don't impact your or your family's lives. I can't imagine Vic or any other politician sitting in emerge all day waiting for their turn and coming to the conclusion that we need to make some cuts.

What a terrible look for the company. They clearly don't value what their drivers do and have little regard for the impact this has on the students and their families. Paying their drivers barely over minimum wage is embarrassing for the work that they do. These drivers work split shifts, require an additional license, and have the responsibility of safely transporting our children to and from school every day. I'm sure the decision makers at Alouette aren't skipping any meals

Alouette speed running their reputation into the ground over providing a barely liveable wage to their most important employees is quite the PR choice. The company is just going to try to replace these drivers with cheaper labour to keep their profits in line. I'm not sure cheaping out on drivers is the best solution for the safety of the kids and the community but that's just me.

You know it's rough when she's leaving North Bay to go to Sudbury. Yikes!

Housing is not affordable. Treatment for mental health and addiction barely exists. Punishment for drug related crimes is laughable. None of these issues are being properly addressed and the problem is going to continue to escalate. Our city is going to be in the business of operating not just this shelter, but there will be a need for another one very shortly.. and then another and so on. This is just another bandaid fix that the local taxpayer will have to pay for because the federal and provincial government have hung their citizens out to dry.

I'm sure Vic had the same thing to say about the Skills Development Fund report. I must have missed his comments on that

I gotta agree with MisteriousV. I'm drawing the line at the Chinese spying on my Tim's order

This is a poor attempt to deflect the spotlight away from the mayor's expenses. Attending conferences and charging accommodations and meals is a normal business expense for someone in her position. The hotel rate might seem excessive to some, but those that frequently travel to major cities around our country wouldn't bat an eye at that. Let's get back to focusing on city funds being used for personal expenses

The overall figure for the bid would likely be publicly available as this is paid for by tax dollars but the public wouldn't know what their bottom line is. Alouette was recently purchased by Stock Transportation, one of the biggest players in the transportation game, so they aren't scraping by. These big companies can just buy out the competition so they don't have to worry about being outbid come tender time.
