Very typical of City Administration. Stall, Ignore, ignore some more, exhaust you, and finally force you to give up. I've experienced the same with them on multiple projects. I don't know how this city is supposed to grow when they make it impossible to move forward with anything.
Actually Cory has been very good about trying to preserve this stuff. His hands are tied from above. It's the current and previous city council to blame. Instead of giving a helping hand to the historical community they make things very difficult and spend money ($800K+) fixing their mistakes. City Administration throws road block after road block in the way. The main player on the current council won't even return emails and phone calls regarding this stuff. They are all waiting on the best use study of Pool 6 with dreams of "Diamonds International" and "Tanzerite" cruise ship stores lining the marina. As all that happens, this stuff gets put out for scrap.
Wow. I never thought I'd agree with Shane Judge. The cash cow that cell and television service once was, has disappeared. Like many others, I'm looking at cheaper cell options and on the cusp of going completely to streaming. If/when that happens 2/3rds of what I pay TBayTel will get diverted away. I don't like the idea of sending my money elsewhere instead of investing in my city, but $200/month adds up.That was good analysis Shane. You nailed it.
The caboose is 100% owned by and 100% maintained by the Thunder Bay Railway Historical Society. That's the reason it still exists. The CTB hasn't had anything to do with it (except throwing up red tape) in a decade.
