Thunder Bay Police Service under inspection

2025 before we get the report. Nonsense. I can write the report for you now. The police are wrong and have failed at every turn. Every problem the city faces is the fault of the police. Reality is not part of this investigation. Here is my advice to every police officer that works for Thunder Bay Police. Get out. Go to the OPP, move to southern Ontario, get out and go enjoy a career somewhere else, because that is not possible here.

Shelby wants to represent everyone. Is that everyone in Canada or just the ones who pay your salary. Because you owe a duty to the citizens of T.Bay, not those who chose to come here because we are making things" better" for the homeless. It will attract more people. Period. And the guy on Riverview. We are providing a solution to homelessness. Being homeless does not mean you get to set up shop wherever you wish. Does that mean they can park on my property. If I have the right to evict, why doesn't the city have the right to say, here is a bed. You can either go there or we will dismantle your tent. Instead, we provide them. I am sure the Viking passengers love coming to our "jewel" with the added residential component. Pay for parking now, but put your tent wherever you wish.
New jail to get more beds

Couple of things. WE have more beds for criminals than we do for medical needs at the hospital. Fantastic. As for recruitment. Anyone looking at why because even someone with 3 inch thick glasses can see what recruitment in law enforcement/corrections is in the tank. Quick story that maybe your outlet can confirm. Allegedly a new employee from India, who very recently came to Canada is already working on the floor at the jail with an interpretor because he cannot speak english. If true, that may be a story worth pursuing

This guy left the police service in a disaster. He took care of his friends and most of the issues today started under his watch. The guy also leaves town for 4-5 months every year but now he cares about the city. I would vote for Trudeau before this guy and I really dislike Trudeau

I am curiuos. Why is up to the police to solve these problems. Some are decades old. Some are directly connected to health issues. When did every problem facing society in this city become the problem of the police. We have a federal cabinet minister. We have a provincial cabinet minister. Instead of the reports, how about someone ask those two "what exactly are you two doing to fix this". Start there

what a disaster. I wonder if anyone remembers former Mayor Mauro before he was elected saying that the old police board should not be doing the hiring until after the election when a new board would be in place. That board was being looked at by Senator Murray Sinclair. But they rammed her hiring through. They are responsible for this entire mess. So maybe our media can ask them questions for what they gave us. Joe Virdiramo, Brian McKinnon, Celina Rietberger, Jackie Dojak and Doug Smith. We heard they hired the best person in north america. They didn't even hire the best person from the Neebing ward. A joke of a police service. The people who worked there deserve way better over the past few decades. The rot at the top has been there a long time. She is just the latest example.

One step closer. There is a thousand steps to go. What have they done in 7 years to move this project forward. They took a step...........wow, I walked west to the corner. I am now closer to Vancouver. Things are looking up. We just made up a story about next to nothing. Remember when the Harris/Eves gov't promised to do that extension but it was the McGuinty gov't that actually did it. Well, here we are again.

I hope you print this and realize it is making fun of one Presidential candidate.................I sure hope people protect their dogs and cats...........Thunder Bay needs a population boost and someone to fill the jobs that others do not want. Great initiative.

just when you think the law cannot get any dumber, an article like this appears. Let the adjudicators house these tenants. it is her house. Say she wants the space for herself, Period. Full stop. Time to leave

Now please pay attention. IF the story I have heard is true and accurate, then I hope this media and the others that covered the story will do the same when this case is tossed out on its ear. I don't know if it is true, only what I have been told and again if accurate, this is beyond a joke. It will deserve front page news

so our former MPP, Mr. Mauro got us angioplasty surgery and started the process for cardiac surgery to come here. We are now 6 years later and still waiting. At some point can the promises stop and this government actually get it done. We have many issues that are provincial in nature not getting addressed by this government and new cabinet minister. Maybe it is time they start.

just one more question perhaps someone has the answer to. Is Thunder Bay the only city facing these problems in Ontario or in Canada. Seems strange that this issue keeps coming up. We have an indigenous Chief of Police, we have an indigenous Board, we have officers going to communities in the north, special sections dedicated to indigenous relations. Anyone have any suggestions as to what else the police service can do because from my perspective, based on this new investigation and report, we have an indigenous Chiefof Police who is NOT PROVIDING ACCOUNTABLE SERVICES TO INDIGENOUS PEOPLE. Perhaps someone can explain that to me

have we ever been told who was responsible for this boat sinking and do they still have their job. Is that a question that should be asked. We have no problem displaying a cop on the front page, yet years later we still do not know who was responsible for this mess.

This is the cops fault. They should know exactly where these people are at all times. I mean, the homeless are the cops fault. The drug addicts are the cops fault. The people kicked off reserves by their own band are the cops fault so why not this. When will anyone with half a brain do some research and see what this police service deals with daily and then when they announce another investigation into the place, everyone can realize that this is a political game being played at the expense of the police officers just trying to keep the lid on a city that has seen crimes of violence and guns rise year over year. I am sure moving to a new board room on May St will make people feel comfy as the Board Chair advised in another story. It don't do anything for crime levels in this city but maybe a lazy boy or two at the meetings will calm everything down. This city and this police board are a joke.

I for one am absolutely convinced that it will stay "lovely inside" for at least 2 or 3 days.

And it only took one year for the officer to be cleared. One year to have it hanging over his head. Well, hopefully that officer learned a lesson. Let the guy go. Fill out the report that the guy escaped and go about your day. Or be investigated for a year. If the cops took that long no case would ever be solved.

You know, there are 13 people that meet regularly, usually Mondays and sometimes Tuesdays that might be interested in this story. Rumour has it, that they sometimes deal with money/spending, and have even been known to ask for more money from City Residents. These 13 people, who sit around a table on Donald St, stay quiet, keep their heads down and say nothing when this is happening.. These allegedly, are the leaders of the city. Our city council, the people who pay for these things are a joke. Say nothing, do nothing.

When the defense does not call any evidence, it seems pretty obvious that they don't believe the case has been proven. So they are either very sure, or incompetent, and as they have already won the two previous cases, I do not believe incompetence is the correct assumption here.

Why does a firefighter gets paid in comparison to police. Besides the red lights on top of the vehicles, what else do they have in common. Not many would want to go into a fire, firefighters don't go to a weapons call. They do not have to go to school like paramedics to be hired, they work 24 shifts which is beyond absurd when you think of the time off they get, they are provided rest periods, they actually get to sleep at work. Why? And much of this is justified because they respond to medical calls, almost always because they are not on calls like paramedics are, who are far more trained to deal with medical calls. How many firefighters are on shift compared to ambulance and police. Lets compare those numbers, than compare to call volume and ask if we really need as many on shift as we have. It is hard to believe how long this has been going on.

Update. Ms. Wallbourne has already had one count dismissed because the crown produced no evidence to support it. Why was it still laid? And given the reporting on this topic what seems clear is that this trial is trying to paint a picture and is asking the judge to see the tractor in the picture and pretend it is the Mona Lisa. Simply based on reporting and in fairness, it does not capture everything but I have no idea what she was supposed to have done that led to the charge. How did she mislead someone and why. That would be good in a news report. As for the other comment about a viper's nest. The public at large has no idea none as to how bad it is.
