BGeez, I have no doubt they are as fed up and frustrated with the provincial and federal policies as you and I and everyone is. Until the provincial prosecutors start putting away repeat offenders, until provincial policies are changed to treatment, and federal law is changed ( that's not gonna come anytime soon to put the onus on accused), nothing is going to change. Vote Conservative federally, Conservative and United provincially( looking at a coalition) and change will come.
I recall a while back, Eby trotted out the idea of treatment centers and mental health treatment. He back tracked real fast when he received a lot of opposition from some of his flock in and outside of his party. It was all about votes, not common sense. So, who yuh voting for come election time, an upopular party who does the right thing, or these guys who''ve made a mess of our province?
Very Strange. What is the difference between members of the public attending a public meeting and a Citizen reporter, there to inform the public at large? In this age of "transparency", where is this fear coming from.
Didn't take Eby long to figure out he was going to lose a lot of votes if he didn't do an about face on involuntary care, but he's still handing out pills to addicts, or did he quietly shut that down? All these wonderful promises will be hollow delays if he remains in power. Vote Conservative.
James, so what? It's your party's policy, not everyone's. I'm voting for Kiel anyway, the only party who will fairly manage the provinces resources and re-open investment in our province as well as cut crazy taxes.I do appreciate you lobbying re: glyphosate, thank you.
I'd like to say THANK YOU to all of you who ran for your respective parties and the Independents as well. As Shirley and Mike have said, it's a hard, time consuming job with some great rewards thrown in when you achieve great results.
" the provincial government takes tenant concerns seriously". Well if that ain't a blatant lie I don't know what is. Who is the Minister responsible, who are the bureaucrats paying lip service to clients? Perhaps a clean sweep is necessary to institute change. How the provincial government has treated these tenants is absolutely disgusting. No one should be treated this way, especially ones with health issues. Why does it take an expose in the news to get things done. Thanks Citizen for this article.
My big wish is to have a fully staffed traffic section in town, it's getting a lot worse. I've noticed a big increase in tinted driver windows and wide tires outside the frame. The folks running reds on turn lanes at 5th and fifteenth, and going immediately in to the curb lane, speeding is getting worse, not knowing that in a traffic circle, you signal prior to leaving, not when you enter. But, the increase in files dealing with addicts, probation and bail breaches is keeping them very busy. From a constables point of view, very frustrating.
What started as a Chevron Gas Station ended as a second hand store.Firefighters did an excellent job containing this fire with another aged building right next door.
7 years of NDP government, bear in mind the first few years with the Green's help.Every year more mill closures, to present day with drug decriminalization, lack of mental health facilities, emergency room closures, lack of Doctors, health care workers, to name a couple. Where are the crown counsel teams that were supposed to assist in locking up repeat offenders?Families are suffering as forestry workers are out of jobs all over BC. 7 years to fix a forestry beuroccracy and nothing has been done.
My hats off to PGSAR and BC Ambulance, your deducation to helping others is absolutely incredible. It was so frustrating a year or two ago to learn SAR in this province was being paid lip service by the government.Huge thanks to all you volunteers.
Horton, you're quite correct, they don't get hunted much, having spent quite some time in the bush, you'll see 5 bears to 1 deer. There is definitely an over population. This bear cull was carried out safely, thanks to the professionalism in the ranks of the CO's. And believe me, no CO wants to kill healthy wildlife.
My understanding of a press release by the NDP government a while ago was that they were setting up Crown Counsel throughout the province to go after prolific offenders to keep them off the street and in jail til trial. Is the Citizen going to ask and report on this? These constables have more than enough work to do without having to go after the same offender week after week after month and it's still catch and release, so darn frustrating for frontline officers.
"ICBC's response was instead of helping me in any way possible, it was just to say I should be happy I don't have to do the whole MELT program again." "ICBC is working to support them through the process". Interesting help.
Talk about critical incident reaction. No time to think just go where you have to go to avoid catastrophe. Laura, proud of you, you handled that extremely well!
