There is absolutely no risk with student housing. It's close to the university as well as everything on Stone Road. They'll have every unit rented out within two or three days of it opening, and they'll be charging close to $1000 a month, if not more. It's literally a license to print money. Claiming that they can't go ahead if there are development fees is just a lie, they're just trying to get that much richer.
Trump doesn't like Carney. His handlers are telling him to say that to make Carney less palatable. The fact is, Carney is one of the world's leading economists, with lots of real world experience. Poilievre has never had a real job - something conservatives were consyltantly
They'll build it even if they have to pay development fees, because they know it's basically a license to print money, and if they don't build it, someone else will. They're not going to give up millions of dollars of profit every year, because they have an up front expense. They're just trying to stick the taxpayers in the city with the cost of upgrading the infrastructure, so their profits will be even bigger. Every developer in this province is constantly pleading poverty, yet they're the richest people around. Currently, private rooms in the old Holiday Inn are going for $1675 a month, and shared rooms at $999. You can bet they'll be going for more in the new build. They'll make back any development fees within a year and a half. You know they're not going to turn down $1 million+ profit every month, they just want the Guelph taxpayers to pay for updating the infrastructure, so they can rake in even more profit.
Trump doesn't care about the US. He ran for president to avoid a jail sentence, and to make himself richer than he already is. He and his entire family dumped all of their stocks in truth social the day before he announced sweeping tariffs because they knew the stock market would tank. That IS NOT caring about America. The fact you think that toxic narcissist cares about anyone but himself shows you haven't been paying attention for the past decade.
