If over 60% of the homeless are indigenous, shouldn’t indigenous affairs shoulder their share of the cost

After seeing the tent community, one has to ask, how soon before this village becomes a ghetto.

There are signs posted at the Mission Marsh by LRCA, no fires, no alcohol, no tents. Why can’t these rules be applied to city owned properties?

Drive by the current location, it’s a ghetto. The garbage piling up is a look into the future of what the “homeless village” will resemble. There is no good location for it.

Walmart has had free rein for years, regardless of who builds competition is good for the consumers. BTW you would have to search far and wide for a city of our size to have 3 Walmarts. I think they accomplished their goal of eliminating competitors.

So the solution they come up with is “let’s build a slum area”.

Wouldn’t having the Nishnawbe Aski police handle all calls involving indigenous cases alleviate the distrust aimed at the TBPS.

Will chief Fiddler be asking the individuals who were at the river when some of those “cold cases” occurred to come forward with the truth?

“Sites were chosen by distance guidelines”, does that mean the distance to panhandling locations?

Here’s something for council to think about. Adding 1,000 trucks per day to the expressway what happens when there is an accident anywhere on the expressway how do they plan on re-routing traffic or do they plan on shutting it down backing up traffic for miles?

How is it possible to lose money running a business where people come in, give you their money in the hope of winning more, then when they lose their money say “oh well” maybe I’ll win tomorrow.

On a positive note, now that the Care Bus is up and running it can give all the tent dwellers a ride to the upcoming Job Fair.

Guidelines? How about no guidelines no camps.

If the 17 yr old ever gets his license back he will reap the benefits of his stupidity by paying $5,000/yr for insurance for many years.

So the city is going to lose $200,000/yr in tax revenue, any guesses who is going to be covering the shortfall?

Shouldn’t the headline read “9 individuals are choosing to sleep in tents”, they have been offered alternatives.

“Centralized location”. How many residential buildings are within 1/4 mile of this site as opposed to County Fair?If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Apparently council hasn’t heard the adage “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it”. What does an intercity location accomplish? Younger people can currently walk to the County Fair location, they certainly aren’t going to walk to intercity.
