News flash CUPE members abusing sick time has bankrupted local hospital. It's quite a racket but of course it isn't all CUPE members. Maybe the media can report on this issue.
Not really a shocker given the "careless with the guidelines" approach it appears most drivers take to the Highway Traffic Act in the North Bay area. Getting our North Bay police engaged with traffic enforcement and reporting on it regularly in the media as a deterrence for those that can read.
Imagine if they did this the third weekend in January in Callander bay. Most of the catchable walleye have left Callander Bay for freezers long before now. Some of them were probably legal.
I was thinking it's about time for the unregulated reserve that can pull $100k at the drop of the hat to the ski hill it could be used in part to give taxpayers relief from the water bill increase. If there is a published and detailed plan and strategy for collection and spending of this fund that says otherwise then I guess not. I'd bet there is no such document on the shelf at city hall.
Seems to me there should be an expansion of the parks in other boundaries to compensate and particularly when there may be high value habitats adjacent and just outside the park.
One has to manage RRSPs throughout life to determine when to use TFSAs and when to start reducing them to manage taxes. If one doesn't the two RRSPs become one when one spouse dies and 50% goes to CRA on last spouse dying. RRSPs are great for high wage earners, TFSAs for those making less than $60K who can save. As for capital gains I assume it was claimed on a home owned and sold while owning the cottage so they did get the freebee on the appreciation of the house. Pretty normal stuff just no understanding of taxes by parents or offsprng.
I'm not sure why a joint isn't the equivalent of a roll your own unfiltered cigarette when it comes to lung cancer. Nobody seems to consider cancer as a risk to smoking joints.
It's not just the high priced help that's burning down the budget. Sick time abuse, long a problem on some hospital floors (4 west) and an off site facility are bursting the floor staff budgets. Nobody has to get a medical slip anymore and firings for excessive sick time can't happen any more.
I'm not sure I see how costs for local farmers raising beef cattle would go up if the products they use to grow them are Canadian. I for one would gladly buy more local beef just like I'm already buying Canadian products first and then Mexican/Moroccan/Costa Rican while boycotting US products. I'm not sure I can guarentee I won't be buying this way in perpetuity.
Actually that work each and every day they are scheduled knowing the working conditions. There should be a positive award for those of this calibre and it should be visible to the patients and staff.
Been hearing Federal Trudeau like promises out of Vic for 3+ years while the 400 gets 10 lanes. Get with the program Vic the proposed site close to North Bay is crumbling.
So my all electric Ford Lightning is actually going to be spewing carbon via the production of electricity using natural gas? I don't feel so virtuous about my carbon footprint.
What is the expressed purpose of the reserve fund? Is it not an emergency fund? High water bills and high tipping fees are not emergencies nor are $100K annually for the ski hill. Pay these bills out of the budget if you have to or just raise taxes. We perpetually pay more taxes than necessary for council to have a slush fund with no rules that makes out of the blue spending decisions. Premier Ford just raised the hydro rebate to 23% on your bill because Ont Hydro raised your rate by 29%, it's being paid by your provincial taxes you pay .
Are there no written policies or financial plans in this city? We have a reserve fund but nobody knows how much is enough so that we can throttle back taxes. We have investing going on without a concrete risk statement and an adhoc two person investing team that council doesn't direct or isn't aware of. We have a mayor apparently thinking it is ok to buy a golf membership on the city's dime.W e have a CAO who gives the mayor a pass once it is brought to his attention. Ugh.
Ah yeah Vic I believe it's been atleast 3, if not 4 years since the Hwy 11 north 2+1 lane initiative was announced and the only thing I see so far is survey pickets between Sand Dam and Tilden Lake. In the same timeframe the province added multiple lanes through Barrie and new Hwy 400 lanes south of Hwy 9 for a total of 5 lanes each way and now 4 lanes from Innisfil to King City.Vic's promises of the 2+1 are just that, empty Justin "socks boy" Trudeau promises on the most often closed part of the TransCanada Hwy between North Bay and Cochrane. Tuck in your yellow tie and get the shovel out Vic, another election is coming.
