Freezing to death. Being vulnerable on the streets. Having you personal items stolen. All those things spring to mind. Needing a safe place to sleep with a lock on the door should be a priority for the city, and fast. Fast tracking requests for friends or family to build affordable tiny homes will save lives.
That’s an amazing idea. It’s horrendous driving at night when there are so many moving a cross the road and you have to drive through. This is a much needed environmental hand after taking their natural habitat. 👍👍
So they can’t blame previous Governments now. Can they. Who keeps voting for these guys ? Ten years of ??? NDP in the 90s didn’t get back in. How did this crowd manage each election. ?
The grounds are a natural habitat to many different species of birds and wildlife. To add further constriction to the site would cause so much loss.Let the grounds be enjoyed and put the existing building to good use.
When families here can’t find a safe, affordable place to sleep. What gives international and out of Province students a priority? Along with Ontario students. MONEY!Guelph property taxes for policing have increased, more officers and time for the weekends loaded with down town crowds fromthe university. We pay for that in our taxes. Is the university an asset or a liabilit? . I’m sure there’s a professor out there that can make a class out of that. Back to the question. When Guelphites struggle for affordable housing. They’re competing with others that don’t have the responsibilities or dependants as they’re students. Regardless rent is rent and it’s anyone’s guess who will get a bed the night. Week. Month. Who’s standing g up for Guelph ! It’s not recognizable anymore.
Their rights were breached. Perhaps write to the court of human rights in Europe. To get their take on it. It reads as a judicial filing error loosing the case When a persons right to choose what happens to their health and body is taken away. That’s a problem.
What are the existing tenants going to do ? Where will they go for the equivalent priced housing ? Has the city assisted in this process as a condition, with the approval ?
We knew it was bad. But this is shocking. How many are going to be part of the new statistic. Just a few mortgage or rent payments short. The debt ratio is escalating, and affordability impossible for too many. This is a crises, that begs belief. Canada. 5 th best place in the world to live at one point. Is on its knees.
It’s lovely to hear such great incentives to care for our wildlife. Is it possible to drop bait like in the old days for rabies and mange. Then the foxes will pick it up in their own environments. They’re quite territorial I thought and it may be a good way to treat more. It use to work very well, when the program existed. That being said when caught other wellness checks may be done by catching them. They won’t see it that way but it’s better than suffering mange or rabies
I’m not familiar with Cargills process as they call it. Killing 1,500 cows a day. But where does all that blood go. And the rest of the stuff If workers are having to deal with that kind of Deluge. How are they going to catch up and where’s it going to go when they do ? It’s an horrendous job. Live animals to slaughter. Not a big box store. All the emotions with that for the workers alone, not just the cows. doesn’t bare thinking.
Looking at the provisions other municipalities have put in place, in this regard . Guelph is found seriously lacking. Allowing profits over people, and homelessness to those in its wake.
For those who know what middle class actually means ! Middle Class does not include and will never include, Blue collar workers. They are working Class. What a statement to make on such a topic. Working class are the Back bone of this city. !!! Something to be recognized, and proud of.
