Keep it. Fix it, as needed. Far far cheaper than a new building. Who knows where demographics will be in the next 20 to 40 years? There might not be 900 students, as they claim now. This 1976-77 building is solid, lots of brick and concrete, and the torch on roof should last decades. Keep it.
Toxic drugs continue to be a real problem in our society. This epidemic strikes people of all stripes, genders and preferences. It doesn't care what kind of family you come from, who your friends are, or the colour of your skin.I don't encourage anyone to use mind altering substances but we all know that it is going to happen, for a wide variety of reasons. Thus far, our dear governments who attempt to control so much of the law abiding population have not tried hard enough to find a way around this issue. We need more people like Michelle and Corinne and their cohorts, advocating for change.Thank you Christine and the Citizen newspaper for keeping this issue alive.
Not enough parking for all the wonderful new concepts. I have to assume that automobile parking will be addressed. So why not right away? Underground, below the mixed use residential? We have a lot of experience (tongue in cheek) with underground parkades in that area. Said parking needs to be more central than existing parkades.
I qualify for the gst rebate, and while any money received is welcome and appreciated, the real increase is minimal, the extra is not going to buy a lot of groceries. This is a typical Liberal solution, make the great unwashed think they are being given free money, must be good. This latest trick does not buy my vote
Ms. Klassen has proposed an idea that may provide the beginning of a solution to the ills our downtown suffers. I, for one, applaud her out of the box thinking. It sounds like some of the rest of council do not support creative thinking, perhaps those naysayers can only colour inside the lines and are fearful of any change. It's a good idea! To go further, it should be illegal for a building owner to leave their property looking derelict and empty. It has been proven that maintaining a building, replacing broken windows, erasing graffiti etc help to maintain the integrity of a neighbourhood. How about temporary window displays, where the appearance is that someone is there, as opposed to obviously empty and unused. Naysayers and negative thinkers begone!
I hope they are now going to be well compensated, most of these people work very hard, and see things every day that average citizens couldn't handle. Their dedication helps your bad day become more tolerable.
With respect Ted, younger minds might want to know who Mr. Turgeon was, and his contributions to PGARA.. Otherwise, great story.I'm glad to hear that the club is on a strong financial footing.
This Lady has done more for the Hospice than many people realize. It is today a vibrant part of our social fabric, thanks to Donna, and her excellent staff. Enjoy your retirement Ma'am.
This would be a good cause to donate to, as non residents to the local area use the road, as Ms. Pighin has mentioned. I think that the province should have a hand in road maintenance, people live there year round and what about emergency access to residents who after all pay their taxes like all of us.
Revisiting the comment section, I see mostly blaming, negative opinions and finger pointing, but no constructive solutions or ideas. At least Ms. Klassen has the courage to publicly express an opinion, against the tide of popular dissent.
