I feel the mayor needs to resign.

No meeting needed. A resignation is.

Someone please send this to Trevor Lee. He deserves to ask the mayor some questions.

Thank you Deputy Mayor Lauer for responding so capably in the early stages - and without firing the CAO too.

Thanks Orillia Matters for trying to put out some positive coverage of the mayor, given everything that's happened of late. I can't get passed the fact that he dismissed the CAO without warning to Council and without warning to Mr. Lee. It's going to cost Orillia millions. Chainsaw or no chainsaw, he needs to resign.

The mayor needs to resign. Amanpreet needs to resign. The Council needs to challenge the decision. Should have taken a week, not a month - for all three.

Thank you Ellen for demonstrating the true values which Orillians hold. We are with you.

I feel so awful for Mr. Lee who has presumably sold his home, resigned from his old role, moved to Orillia and was probably eager to contribute to our community at the CAO. What a loss for Orillia and for no reason at all.

NoMore, you write a lot like the newly appointed CAO. You note a "downward spiral" but Orillia doesn't need to be made great again. It's already great.

Mark, you've contributed so much to our community over the years. Thank you for adding - protecting our City's values - to that long list.

Where's the guy who was commenting a few days ago that the new powers wouldn't make McIsaac a "dictator"?

This is the most blatant conflict of interest I have ever heard of in my entire life.

He didn't relinquish anything. He delegated power to the CAO who he just appointed and whose employment he alone controls ...

"relinquishing" would be giving the powers back to Council. This is delegating the powers to someone the mayor controls.

Don't worry. They took the bench out on the main street = problem solved.

Why were city staff unable to get a lawyer? Perhaps because they're nervous the mayor might fire them if they bring one in?

We all need to call the mayor and complain directly. Is his number available anywhere on the city website?

How is it permissible that Don's friends be informed of what's going on, but not the mayor's own Council?
1
17
Could? Orillia's mayor just terminated the CAO against the will of Council.

If members of the public feel that city staff didn't follow Council's instruction (by failing to arrange for a lawyer) then I believe any member of the public can file a complaint with the Ombudsman of Ontario here https://www.ombudsman.on.ca/have-a-complaint/make-a-complaint/complaint-form-general
