Scrap the village … literally. And start looking into how and what’s needed to help those at risk .. not just a temporary roof over head but long term solutions, addiction recovery centre maybe??
I just watched the interview on CBC Sunday evening and I agree, how about a treatment facility like Scott Oakes! They need treatment, as well as a roof over their heads! Not just here is a temporary site…. Long term solutions need to be discussed instead of what works now.
It would awesome if my kids didn’t have to worry about the needles on the ground that are being handed out, never mind bodies. They already see the basically lifeless bodies roaming the city and residential neighborhoods. What a time….
Not everyone is struggling Mr Hamilton, there is plenty of local businesses thriving in your area. I believe the local residents tend to support local businesses that are good folks.
I hope everyone commenting and everyone reading this news article, remembers this … come elections. We have allowed our city to become a complete slum / dump. Why do the citizens who PAY taxes … not have a say! Outraged!
Nothing about this is temporary, it will become a permanent eyesore in the south core, not a single business will be to strive! Take a read in the news, there was a murder over the weekend at the Pearl St location , that unit was built BY …. The city / social housing etc, and there is constantly , destruction, assaults, police are there nearly daily. Who is going to manage these units? Certainly not the city, it is going to run our police thin! This is absolutely ridiculous, that this was even put toward to “resolve” homelessness, take a look around … who is working all the customer service jobs that normally teens would have over summer…. This many people did not become homeless over night, they are homeless due to job loss, ridiculous cost of housing and other factors.
You bet your bottom dollar everything you said, is accurate & represents the truth, they do not manage the buildings very well… nor do they care, as long as the city gets paid for rent. All is kosher!
