Carney is an empty business suit- Ben Mulroney

Reply to Longtime 2:The budget was way of control before Trump or Carney came on the scene. The predecessor of Carney managed to double the federal public service in 10 years, fund very questionable programs, green initiatives that led to actual stealing of taxpayers money by shady numbered companies (some of whom were headed by relatives of cabinet ministers). It is an unforgivable mess yet they still won the election because Carney promised a more prudent approach. But so far uncontrolled immigration isn’t fixed, promised trade agreement with US (elbows up remember) by Canada Day not done, better control of spending but has announced many new spending programs.I wish it was a bad dream but it has turned into a real life nightmare and our children and grandchildren will be paying a heavy price for it.

This is a travesty! But hey let’s throw money at a useless library, HST removal on liquor and potato chips, and other ludicrous programs but let’s keep hitting health care!I very much appreciated the great PSWs at the GGH when my mother in law spent time there! Why doesn’t the health care system look at the over paid middle and upper management folks!Don’t touch, the PSW, nurses or doctors!

This is tragic. The generation that built this country being treated this way!All level of governments can find all sorts of money to benefit all sorts of popular causes but our seniors remain ignored.Shame

How about after a WW2 Guelph native Ken Macalister! He was tortured and died so that future generations could be free! The proposed are not relatable to most Guelphites!

With due respect I don’t think you understand the principles of running a business.Unless a location is earning some sort of profit, said business is under no obligation to maintain a facility. It is not a publicly funded business. How much it earns gives no obligation to remain open in an unprofitable location. It is not their fault that city planning in almost all of Canada has completely de-emphasized the building of communities near a downtown but instead emphasized keep building out, using up more agricultural land and creating new centres of cities, which are usually ugly strip malls. Our downtowns will keep dying if we continue on the path we’re going in. We could learn something from the old cities of Europe which are still very much healthy!

They simply don’t care.If the budget increase remains over 8% in 2026, the compounded tax increase from 2021 to 2026 would equal approximately 40%.This is a cowardly move by the Mayor. He is no friend of the middle working class taxpayer! He talks a good game but actions prove otherwise!

Wow I wish this media company did an expose like this on some Liberal federal cabinet ministers that have stolen hundreds of millions through shady family businesses eg. Minister Anand whose husband’s company pocketed $60 million dollars, the other Randy who denied having a company getting government contracts, the almost half a billion gone missing through dubious green deals .. btw this happened under the Wynn prov. Liberals who wasted millions on green deals.. I write this as a former prov conservative who will never vote for them again. But please be FAIR

This is heartbreaking.. there is less and less incentives for companies to keep investing in Canada. Our taxes, costs and government regulations are very prohibitive. But hey let’s keep voting the same people back in office.

What a sad commentary on what our once safe and crime free community has become!Thank you to liberalization of drug use, soft on crime laws and abandonment of traditional moral principles. We are now reaping the results of a society in decline!God help the future generations.

My family immigrated here in 1967, we had 2 hospitals, negligible crime and a bustling downtown.Fast forward to 2024, one hospital with horrible service, crime at record high rates and a dirty and ugly downtown. We have digressed not progressed!

So in just 2 years the working citizens of Guelph gets hit with an almost 15% tax increase. This is just disgusting!I and many vehemently complained last year about the increases, and they virtually stayed the same!Taxes at all levels of government have become legalized theft, as the number one average household cost is now taxes.I hope all the overpaid, comfortable middle and upper management folks at city hall, the school boards and other public institutions feel really good about giving it to the private sector taxpayers who can barely ends meet, once again. Shame also on the mayor, council and the other boards. You are not doing your jobs.
