Poliviere is a 1 trick pony. His one slogan (carbon tax election) is gone. Without a script or prompter the guy is scarily inept at getting a point across.

Why don't you just move there?

Has the Mayor seen these occurrences first hand ("Mothers pushing their strollers with kids that are getting meth smoke blown in their face,”) ???Or is he buying into whatever will get him heard ?Sensationalism from a politician???

If I owned a downtown business, I'd close up shop, move to the perimeter, and come back fresh....in ...13 years??Might just a well start over with the downtown 🤷

OMG - STOP!! The same people whining about homelessness are often the same ones whining about lack of solutions ... Unless they're located somewhere else.

On the issue of accommodating the homeless, I can't believe how selfish the community of Guelph has become! Nimby-ism and monetary concerns seem to trump common decency.

The statement, though guised as an "opinion" is factually not possible. Not my opinion, because as things stand an election cannot be called until the process plays out. Just sayin'...

He also claimed he doesn't need Canadian cars. Which Canadian car parts is he going to do without. Maybe he sees everyone with a Tesla!

Here's a message for "Downtown Councillors": Downtown problems have NOTHING to do with the perceived "social" problems of society. There always seems to be a desperation plea to do this to "save" the downtown. The business behavior of many business owners result in frequently shooting themselves in the foot, with poor hours of operation, terrible service, and putting themselves before the customers.Guess what? Putting the customer first most often results in a better bottom line So, clean up your own act before sweeping them off to another place, rather than solving the problem, without self-interest of businesses and Councillors.

Splurfy, seemed to be grey until someone complained.Same as the bike repair lady...An area like Puslinch vs my residential Guelph neighborhood where I saw chickens/roosters yesterday? I'm not going complain.Someone needs to re-address the bylaw

Agreed, anything some people can complain about, they will. I suppose it gives them an illusion of power they otherwise don't have.

So this is a bash-Doug-Ford piece with no analysis of an alternative? 🙄

I realize that's the "flavour of the month" response, but believe or not, some want to do business the traditional way and offer a service for a market price

It's beyond me why it can be claimed it is "out of character" for the area. We are long past putting aesthetics ahead of reality when it comes to the survival of the downtown. Wake up and realize residents and customers should be the priority, not "dressing up the sow" for the few that are there now.

It's ironic that I think Guelph has often thought of itself as bigger than it is, with delusions of playing with the "big boys and girls" when in reality its actions are decidedly small town. I really don't think it knows what it is.

First of all, you shouldn't be playing on the road! Train your kids in safety and self-survival.A street near where I live is treated like a private playground with signs posted in the middle of the road "children play here" - SMARTEN UP!

Do you have a place to live Joe? Oh, so you don't have to care about anyone else...

Can you provide 1 example of the Mayor (or council) doing anything positive or coming to the aid of anyone below his pay bracket with policies, motions or actions ?
