Shelter village residents will pay rent, says city staff
TBNewsWatch

“The city will charge people living in the temporary shelter village rent to offset the overall cost of the project, but it “will not be a requirement …”So the rent is optional??! Can my taxes be optional too? This may not be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, but it certainly makes the top ten.

That attitude is not helpful. We need to rise above the nonsense.

It’s going to be a disaster wherever they put it. But it is nice to see Dr Powlowski taking a common sense stand for a change.

“city council voted unanimously to approve a ten-part human rights-based community action plan…”What about a human responsibility plan?

These Liberals are out of touch. We don’t want safe supply. We don’t want to be supplying drugs at all. Hajdu is right about one thing however - their ideology does get in the way of actual solutions.

It’s the perfect word and I give him credit for using it. Giving it a pretty name isn’t going to change the reality. I’m not a big Powlowski supporter but he is absolutely correct on this.

The irony here is that one of the main reasons that rental housing is hard to find and expensive is that people no longer want to be a landlord. The law around rental housing is slanted so steeply in favour of the tenant that it just doesn’t make sense anymore. Bill 60 is a much needed step in the right direction.

I was there to pick up a package in the last couple of days. I have to admit to some trepidation but everyone seemed particularly nice. The customs officers on both sides of the border seemed more pleasant than usual and the folks at Ryden’s were as happy to see me as ever. I would not hesitate to go back.

Singh’s ignorance is breathtaking. If he get his way he will take us from expensive food to rationed food.

So why can’t we designate a place for them to pitch their tents without spending millions of dollars building them tiny homes??

This guy is delusional. The Conservatives had a balanced budget. They would not have run deficits totalling 600 billion dollars. They would not have let immigration get completely out of control. They would not have released repeat violent offenders back into the community. They would not have legalized hard drugs. The Liberals have brought Canada to the brink of disaster. It may be too late for the Conservatives to fix it, but don’t ever get the idea that they would have let it happen in the first place. That took a special level of incompetence.

Don’t know how checking a driver would stop him from doing something stupid.

When I built my home it was $100/sq ft. Now it’s $300??! I’m willing to bet carpenters and plumbers aren’t making 3x as much and homes certainly aren’t 3x better. Poilievre has it figured out. It’s bureaucrats and politicians lining their pockets at our expense.

So diversity and inclusion for everyone except his fans??!

It’s disheartening that City council has elected to buy into this sort of misinformation. Nuclear power generation is the safest method available and civilian nuclear waste has never harmed anyone.

This is a terrible idea. Mark my words. In ten or twenty years we will be looking at this the way we look at Victoriaville today.

Does tradition mean nothing anymore? Is everything for sale??

There IS an end in sight. It’s called an election. Don’t vote Liberal!

‘Safe consumption’. There’s an oxymoron if ever I heard one.
