'Deeply saddened': Suspended without answers, baseball coach Jack White confronts old shadows

I can't believe they are doing this again. Jack was never guilty and it was proven. I have known his for 40 yrs and he is a perfect gentleman. His contribution to Orillia Baseball is pure pleasure for the many kids he has trained and coached. I had a secretarial service and I typed up his baseball book that covered every aspect of baseball. The episode at HRC was from two older men who Jack identified in some wrong doing and it cost him too much to finally get it settled and he was free of any charges. I beg the people who have tried to dirty his history will stop at once and thank him for all his has done for baseball. I trust him totally.

For sure the job should go to Mr. Lee. He had been vented and set up with computer etc for his start was April 14. The Mayor made the change without calling a meeting to discuss with council. I am sure it will go to court if the council does not bring Mr. Lee as CEO. Once again american politics seems to be slithering into Canada. Any decisions that do not have the say from the whole council should not be allowed.

Having the Mayor question transparency is one for the books. Not to mention that he nominated his son for the OSMH board as soon as he was Mayor. I think the hospital board is looking for members with some background in hospital operations. I'm sure the Legion would not want people on their management board that did not know a thing about its operation. To say you are not going to support the hospital because they changed the make up of the board is silly. Many information meetings are open to the members from all back grounds. Residents can also contact the board with concerns at any time. The present hospital will still be in operation for family clinics and ER concerns as soon as the new hospital is up and running. The connection to the Legion can be highlighted many ways. Stopping funds for the hospital will only hurt those who need the services every day.

When he was campaigning he said he would not take a salary but then he did.

It will be a day of celebration when the first building is demolished. I think the government always meant to put more buildings to fit heir needs there so I don't mind that. We tried to put the Childrens Safety Village there and just when we almost had an agreement the government changed.

Brad you are so off track that you may never get back. Their are no tyrants on OSMH board and they are not private. The people there are hard working people who love Orillia and want to keep our hospital being up to date with the Ministry of Health. Shake your head and stop trying to start trouble where there is none.

Property is not safe and you want to build a hospital there. Building near LakeHead and Georgian college will be a bonus. There is access on both ends of the property. The old hospital will be still used with the oldest wing taken down and some Emergency services and family clinics will be opened. There is not 25 acres in downtown Orillia unless you demolish houses which will make the owners very happy I am sure. The site chosen was given much thought and it is the perfect location.

The Terriers always had a booster club after the game and it provided funds for the team as well access to the players by the public. It was a licenced bar and well run. I see not reason not to have it at Rotary Place after games. Betsy Gross

Sad to have this happen. Council shouldn't be able to do that.

Odd that this would increase city hall income ($80,000), but it is the residents that are paying for it. I think hard working people are all ready stretched to their limits.

American politics have reached Orillia. Hiring a Mayor who had been living and working in the US for 30 yrs. should have run a bell. I admired his parents who were excellent Mayors.

We lost not only the The Packet and Times but The Wednesday Nighter, the Orillia Sun and the Orillia Journal. I worked for all of them at one point and it has never been the same since paper delivery stopped. I know so many people that made receiving and reading the paper as part of their day. Sad to lose. But Orillia Matters has filled part of that void and look forward to getting it every day. I am sorry for people without a computer though.

Congrats Rick, all the best with your new location. It used to be really busy on Sunday breakfast, hope they still come.

And worth every penny. OSMH largest industry in Orillia. Staff is always growing to meet the needs and being CEO of such a facility is a big job and Carmine meets the criteria to a T. He is in touch with the community within the hospital and the community on the outside. We are so fortunate to have him.

Great idea, all the best, you are lucky to have Sandy there, we so love having her at OSMH.

Awesome woman power for sure!!!

There was a project proposed for Rona and the council turned it down. They should have at least tried to negotiate changes if necessary and get that property in use.

So nice to hear of the success of Lakehead. Orillia is a wonderful place to live and play and providing education on top of that just makes it better. Congrats to all.Betsy Gross

Survived it all on the roof of a house with 4 adults, 4 teenagers, three babies, and 2 dogs. We lived in Long Branch and the Etobicoke river was the water up to 4ft in the house we lived in but had to get to the house next door that had a basement. 8 people on our road did not make it out, and the town decided they wanted the land for a park and expropriated the land with no pay out to the people who owned the land. Sad to say some towns can still do that.
