No point in asking Hajdu anything- all you hear is carefully constructed non-answers in her typically smug tone. They need to be ousted - the whole Liberal lot of them.
Simpson St has vacant land and can be developed with apartment buildings. There are many vacant spots particularly along bus routes that can see development - no reason to suggest green spaces ought to be sacrificed.
Most of these people won't go anyway - there's already places for them to go.Tucked away? Is it better they're on a stage for everyone to gawk at?Services already roam - they get services and also -- they GO TO services. They have mobility and time to reach services.
It's bothersome that the constitutional rights of those who are actual criminals is often the stage for said rights to be showcased - but actual victims of violent crimes, home takeovers etc. are absolutely NEVER considered by a judge when it comes to sentencing these animals - leaving them open to reoffend ad nauseum. This isn't a dismissal of the officer's actions & breach of trust - only a note that when a cop does wrong, judges are all over constitutional rights & expectations (and what the 'victim' endured) but ACTUAL victims' experiences rarely appear to matter when doling out consequences otherwise.
Open your doors and get extra beds in your home, provide meals - helping one or two people as you can fit them..helping to rehabilitate them and then as they graduate to productive members of society, bring I'm more. There you; YOU are doing your part.
What's being overlooked: nobody can be forced into this proposed village. The only options given were both downtown south core (fixed outcome). Those working the site will have transportation which means the site can be anywhere and services can get there. This is a taxpayer's nightmare. This is flawed and yet another 'legacy' decision so those who say yes to it on council get their name on something.
There is no need for a temporary village. There are more than enough beds where people can sleep indoors. There's more than enough services and warming places to allow folks to warm up.There's A LOT of incorrect and misleading information, factual information is available if the general public would do a little bit of looking for it.Any kind of 'temporary' village is wrong - its costly to taxpayers, it's a burden on nearby businesses & neighborhoods- frankly it has no long term benefits. It's not humane as some bleeding hearts would state; there are services provided and places to go -- however; people can't be out of their minds, must follow rules and unlike what's being put out there, couples can't sleep together, as beds are singles, but they can be near each other.
There's so much talk about this right now - if only the Kam River Park got the attention it deserved. There was never any reason that the area ought to have fallen into such disgrace. I lived in the area for 10 years and walked that park almost daily and saw how it deteriorated. There was no respect given to it, to the tug - getting completely overridden with intoxicated people and vandals. So much emphasis on the marina its as if there weren't enough eyes for city staff to go around. Which isn't true - just not enough respect from counsel or staff and police can't be everywhere!
Assessment Assessment Assessment Equals $$, $$, $$This city is spiraling out of control. It can't get a handle managing the staff they have - look at the state this city is in in most departments. Who's accountable? We're supposed to believe the City will be accountable for this inane 'temporary' housing project?I'm sure they'll pay for assessments after 3-5 years "proving" just how 'great' the whole thing is.
Do you think truckers are going to blow thru every light? Obviously if you've driven, visited or lived on or near 102 you'd know it is terrible and is NOT a trucking-safe highway. Listen to people who know, because clearly you don't.
The city can monitor these encampment, clean them up regularly. There's no need for them to be overrun with garbage, 'things' that are unusable, multiple shopping cards overflowing with garbage. There's no dignity in that! It's a MAJOR reason why people believe a 'temporary' village will look like & become like a dumpster - what they have now is like that.
Most of them don't have literacy? How can we make it easier? How about people take personal responsibility and everything * they can to grow and be a benefit/asset to the community/country they go to?Why does everything have to be about making it easier? It's also Lent. Why not mention the Christian season of Lent?
