Mark Carney’s first budget projects $78B deficit, program and civil service cuts
12
Before being elected, for his very first time as a politician , Mark Carney worked at making The Bank of Canada, Bank of England alon.ng with many companies in both Canada & USA,, to be doing well financially.. Comparing to many other countries in the world, we are doing pretty goodSo,  to increase our military, more affordable housing, great health care helping out tariff griefs to our mining, manufacturing developing companies a helping hand, So, We need to pay more taxes, making Canada the best for all of us in the worldIf the opposition rejects this budget with another expensive election again this year.We are in trouble with even higher taxes.Along with that being closer to being the 51st state.I am hoping praying that this does not happen.Instead of having the best, be thankful for having..

AXE the TAX, will not solve the fact that our world is getting warmer every year. For sure in the last few tears, the world (not just us) has seen, disaster happening more. Often along with great damages being done.Hurricanes, tornado’s, etc., produce heavy rains, snow & forest fires, that are coming faster, lasting longer & doing more damage.Remember trees are our natural way of converting carbon monoxide into oxygen. Our grand & even great grand kids are in trouble if we ignore this now. Even Saudi Arabia is now saying that it is the burning of fossil fuels that is the cause of Global Warming. Is greed for money and power more important than common sense of helping our family and neighbours? Why is money for Guelph Transit improvements deleted every year?If the system was made so a person can make a trip for work ,school or shopping a reasonable time instead of waiting sometimes 30 minuets for the next bus.Not like present times of up to 2 hours.Making a transfer to another bus without the downtown thing makes more sense. It seems to work all around us like Toronto, K/W Hamilton , London etc. That was maybe good when we had horses..Spend some money to get what the people want & need, so they will not be using their cars. With increased riders the revenue will offset moneys spent ion improvements. This will take cars off the road & make traffic flow better. The reason why our Mayor & Councillors do not agree as the do not use Guelph Transit or probable never will .

Adam A is correct on the (antique) Guelph Transit system. That was designed for hoarse & buggy's back in the 19th century.I have complained for over 20 years now , but Mayors/ councillors (who never use it), will not accept the fact that many will not use it because it does not work.I now live @ Arbour Trails on Bayberry Dr. That requires 3 or 4 bus routs change, each way, to do a 30/40 minute doctor etc. appointment, so if timing is wrong a 30 minuet wait between them. That will make for a long day & possible missing scheduled meal sittings.Come on Guelph, (city hall) with something for thev21st century, along wit reducing our green house gas pollution. Why reinvent the wheel. Other cities have done the research & passed laws for it. Is it not simple to cut/paste to have this done early in 2026 if not before?

Right on Adam.Making the bus system free or lower cost will not solve the problem, as when it takes an hour or more to do each errand the car is used taking less time.Every year @ budget time money to improve Guelph Transit is always asked for but is denied & rejected every year. How about changing the main artery roads in GuelphTo only allow Busses, Trucks, Bikes, Taxis, Limos Emergency vehicles.Only cars with more than two people onboard would be allowed,Hopefully with a large fine for not obeying. This would get people using transit or bikes reducing congestion & accidents. Also, with this happening would increase ridership, making more revenue to make more routes, coverage & faster service to make Guelph Transit bigger & better for all.It seems nobody @ city hall uses or even cares about Guelph Transit.Doug Grove, [email protected]

In a list of 35 Canadian cities, Guelph ranked 10th most expensive for monthly rental prices, and Kitchener ranked 15th. Vancouver is most expensive:Guelph city council & mayor must be proud of this achievement .As yes, it does seem to be getting worse. Will they bring this number to 7 or 8 before the end of their term?Something to think about in future Municiple election.

O how we miss Norm Jary along with most of his councillors. It seems City Hall keeps going downhill faster every year.

As long as I can recall, any money to fix or make Guelph Transit a better running system, is made for the next years budget is made. But before being approved is deleted. The strike, by transit workers (if happens), is for improving the system & not for just salary upgrades. We elected 13 people to do right for us, so will they?

Yes, The University always gets what they want plus from our Mayor & Councillors. The money to improve the not working transit system again this year as many years before is deleted from next years budget. But all of a sudden, that was not on the budget has the University more busses & service. Sure does make for a lot of head shaking & hair scratching

With users & Guelph residents saying, for years, along with along with 99.9% of Guelph transit workers saying ,with a possible strike ,the transit system here does not work.. Will Council /Mayor (who do not use it) possibly start to fix it now instead of ignoring it every year? With a working transit system, there would be more (happy) riders, more busses,, more income to the city with a lot less cars on the streets.Lets hope this is the start of some good things happening.

Since his last day of actual work for the City of Guelph,. he has received over one million in salary, the medical benefits, along with layers cost paid out for all of the delays. Some of the incidents he was found guilty of were well before the Kovac accident, so that is a lame excuse. Wonder did he ever do the 240 hours of volunteering he was ordered to do.This money would have gone a long way in improving our city or reducing our property taxes. Enough is enough OK.

If you look @ the transit cuts on the next budget. It is the reason for the possible strike by employs of Guelph transit .Not just for wages but to providing a better system for them along with the people of Guelph. So if a strike does happen maybe city hall will wake up and listen.

For both seniors & students they only get a free ride after buying a transit pass. For low income & workers without a car spend up to 4 hours a day using Guelph transit. If the non users of transit sitting around the horseshoe @ 1 Carden St.would spend money on this out of date system. This would gain a lot more pleased happy riders with less cars on the road.
A really good story on the fall rural romp. Keegan did a super job of having a writeup of every different picture instead of a lot some others only the same line for all of their photos. Enjoyed it.
No need to ask.Why living in Guelph is so super. With lots of great people like this. So, with all of us doing something for others.WOW!!!!!
