I wonder what the statistics are on the level of 'robberies' in the community boxes, vs. 10 years ago? I don't hear as much chatter regarding mail/packages going missing from the newer boxes that seem to dot the landscape. Let's face it, packages left at the door by other delivery systems get stolen or go missing with some frequency too. It is hard to know what is true or valid in this argument. Even those of use who are retired/older get much of our mail via email vs. the mailbox these days. Most of the stuff arriving in my mailbox is the junk mail, ad mail and government documents. The numbers of us who still get checks mailed to their homes are dwindling as direct deposit is faster and more secure. Canada Post does have a need to re-organize and fit into the current state of affairs in our evolving world. We could go to a 2-3/days a week schedule easily. Unfortunately this will change the required workforce.

This council seems to lack the ability to read the room, and are not doing their jobs well as a result. This type of frivolous nonsense has to stop!

Well said. I worked in the financial industry (non-commission) for years and have never felt McLaren was sincere or focused on clients vs. his own interests and personal gain. I was not in 'competition' with him or his business but I had enough encounters over the years to feel he would never be a good representative for our city's best interests. He is very focused on his own gains and self interests. He might be good at making money for himself, but I don't feel he would be a good 'public servant' for our city.

I attended on the first day. Unfortunately I did not find the set up very comfortable. The little trees, wreaths and birdhouses were located in a very narrow lane outside the rink space. With the high foot traffic flow passing through, it was virtually impossible to stop and enjoy that display which is my favourite. I found the displays of trees decent and more visible against the black backgrounds, but somehow the height of the roof and the noise level was off-putting and very loud. It certainly lacked the cosiness of the Civic Centre which made me sad. A hockey rink is inherently a loud and echo-filled space. The stage seemed to be rickety and the performers were mentioning that, but the table and chairs area seemed less crowded and gained some much needed space vs. the civic centre. The volunteers clearly did a good job of adapting, but unfortunately it lacks the coziness and comfort level we were accustomed to at the Civic centre.

Did the article not literally itemize these same facts? I saw them. I also saw a report of how the committee spoke and acted and can only assume a video of the event would have shown the behaviour reported. It was not a commentary, it was reporting of words, actions and facts. This is how reporting works, Mr. Mothus, facts are recorded and explained in a a written or broadcast method. Editorials are where people comment and explain their viewpoints and own personal thoughts. I did not see editorializing in this article; I saw reporting.

What a bad decision! The 2019 referendum offered only 2 options, stay with time changes for Daylight Savings or permanent Daylight Savings. Those of us who understood that this 2nd option was a very bad choice, particularly in the Northern/Central areas of BC, had no option to choose to stay with permanent Standard Time. The referendum failed to be valid by leaving out a critical option. Now we are being forced to accept a bad design to our detriment. Daylight is required to regulate peoples' nervous systems and a later sunrise in winter is going to cause stress, frustration and sleep deprivation for BC residents. For example, sunrise in mid December in Prince George will be at 9:30 am and 10:02 am in Prince Rupert. Bad decisions lead to poor outcomes. I have read that the 3 western States have changed to preferring permanent standard time once they are able to get their voters to pass the legislation. I hate the semi-annual time change, but this will be much worse!

American doctors expressing interest in moving to BC

I am in my 2nd half of my 60's and so is my family doctor. He seems to be working so hard to manage all the patients he has and accumulated when some of us were transferred to him from our previous doctors who left for some reason or another. I am relatively healthy, but there are things cropping up that are new and sometimes a bit scary to navigate and I am constantly wondering how long this grey-haired older man who takes care of my medical questions and needs is going to be around? This is the issue that worries me the most, and I wonder how we are meant to get through the challenging years without someone who has a reasonable familiarity with my history. And my 30's something adult son who has some complex medical needs - who is going to be on hand to help him along his medical path?We all pay for this medical service system thoughout our lifetimes, and too many are being shortchanged in the worst possible way.

Sadly not true for many households in the Blue zone. We were bumped from Friday to Monday due to Thanksgiving Day, plus the extra garbage of a long weekend that inevitably happens and we have many more full bins in our Blue Zone neighbourhoods.Meanwhile the bears are in their hyperphagia phase and are roaming constantly looking for food pre-hibernation. So, many residents did have fuller bins last Monday which was 10 days since previous pick-up, plus the majority of another week's worth.Certainly a challenging situation for a number of households in this case. Compounding this is the simple fact that the landfill's schedule has been changed and not open Mondays for a while, so again, no option for the trucks to be emptied on our next regular Monday which means No Pickup will be possible. Saturdays it is for now. How many weeks are you willing to go with a full garbage bin at your house? We are heading into our third since our last pickup...

I think this proposal makes sense as the 15th Ave corridor has existing high density housing adjacent to this proposal's lot as well as the tower across the street. It is reasonable use of an infill lot with an elderly building that needs repair and doesn't utilize the lot adequately. My initial concern about what becomes of Studio 2880, but it being incorporated into the plan makes it even more appropriate. It is a useful location with transit giving access to downtown and all directions beyond. I do think that a property owned by the city should include some designated handicap, seniors and/or low income housing units to ensure it serves all levels of the community.
