Good choice. With the uncertainty ahead as we deal with the U.S. any junket, even those that involve the city’s future aspirations, should be considered unnecessary.

Concurrent sentencing means little. Consecutive sentencing actually has meaning. A concurrent sentence can be perceived as a paper sentence with no actual punishment for a crime. The vehicles should be forfeit to the crown and any proceeds from a subsequent sale to go towards victim services, if vehicle is not his a fine equivalent to vehicle replacement value should by assigned.

Local MLA’s have all expressed valid concerns that should be addressed by Eby. Unfortunately much of what Eby has done has resulted in increasing debts since we had a surplus after Horgan left office. Eby seems to think he can meet his goals on borrowed money but manages to increase the debt year after year, not what we expect from our leadership. We need a change in provincial lead ship, if not party.

That cost is awful high. Having been involved in purchase of ATCO trailers in the past I’d suggest they paid top dollar for them. They better be really nice inside, with all the amenities. Who is responsible for suppling services and maintenance?

Given his history sentencing him by using excuses such as his indigenous heritage and rough childhood is a sop to a social justice paradigm. If not for his extensive criminal history an argument could be made for a lighter sentence, but we are long past that. Crowns submission, while still on the light side should be used as guidance by the judiciary. He was prepared for violence with potentially deadly instruments which he used, and an appropriate sentence is needed.

For drivers into town the corner of Hwy 16 & 97 is the obvious choice. Lots of parking, visible, and accessible from all four directions. If you want another place for foot traffic the planned location near the downtown library is fine but all you’re going to get are air travellers, few road travellers will make their way downtown. The current state of the downtown is not conducive to tourists or even many residents. It will be unlikely to improve until the homeless and drug issues are cleared out, just what you want to showcase the city, people shooting up, checking vehicles, sitting in doorways, or pushing carts around. That fake skating rink would be better as a fountain and seating, or a flower garden, but will have to clean up the homeless population first.

Understand her decision. It’s unfortunate though, she’d have probably won as an independent representative. She could then work in the legislature and not beholden to any particular party but her constituents.

Wouldn’t be surprised a heat source is left running when occupants are out so it’ll be warm on their return. Since electricity is free (city pays?) no care on cost. Amazing how nobody around when they happen to burn down.

While there is an automatic reaction to blame the vehicle driver, pedestrians also have to take some responsibility. This time of year, inclement weather, slippery roads, and darkness all contribute to the possibility that a pedestrian could be missed. We also have to be aware of people and electric mobility devices travelling along the road as sidewalks are sometimes inaccessible with snow and ice. .Many times we’ll see pedestrians wandering into the street without paying attention, assuming having the right-of-way means you don’t have to pay attention, crossing in the middle of the block popping out from between parked cars, staring at their phone, or attempting to cross against the light. Whether driving, cycling or walking, we all need to be paying attention and be aware of our surroundings.

Urban renewal? Could this space now be used for something else than storage?

Hoarding can come in many forms, this is just one expression of the phenomenon.

Increases to the budget have to be paid from taxpayers pockets. Anything beyond the average increase in income is unsustainable. The city has to do better.

Having seen both trailer homes and modular homes there can be quite a big difference in the structures and quality. In the better modular homes it can sometimes be difficult to differentiate between a modular and stick built home. Using SIP’s can also speed the process.

With all the fires since the construction of these shelters by well meaning individuals, have to ask, how many were constructed and how many have now been destroyed? Are there any left? What’s going to happen when those new trailers come online? Negligence and an expectation that another do-gooder will just build another one seems to be the theme. A recent article about the DTES in Vancouver reiterated a term heard a few years back - poverty wh0res, to describe those who have made an industry of enabling the addicted and people suffering from related mental health issues. While it is wrong to tar all with the same brush, it appears these individuals are alive and well in PG, enabling the afflicted. The amount of money donated or given by government through initiatives or grants must be astounding. I’m sure if all this money was consolidated it could be used in a more organized and less wasteful manner in eliminating the problems we see on our streets.

Amazing how many announcements appear just before an election when they’ve had years to implement promises made previously. If elected those promises will more likely be kicked down the road amid ‘undergoing consultation’ platitudes.

If no longer needed for student housing then seniors housing is a good choice. However, it needs to be affordable with adequate parking and preferably with some convenience store component geared to seniors. Introducing some greenery back into the property is essential once construction is complete. Are the units rental only, or a mix of purchase and rental, and is there an age restriction? Is it a strictly residential facility or does it have a seniors services component to it?

She was able to bring a lighter tone to public discourse, a welcome change to the previous secretive and doom and gloom we saw previously. It was a treat to read her innovative communications and response's. I suspect some internal politics, hence her silence, may have encouraged her to move on to sunnier climes. I expect wherever she lands, she’ll do well. A communication department of four is entirety adequate for a community our size, and could likely manage with three FTE, maybe with a PT for specific projects.

Annual increases aren’t sustainable in the long term. Neither is borrowing to hide or distribute increases for payment in future years. The city must recognize this and plan accordingly. Eliminating extraordinary expenses which were unplanned for or unforeseen, annual budgets should be kept to a maximum of the annual inflation figures (cost-of-living) that are published provincially and federally every year. No matter the agency or organization there is always a budget creep for new initiatives or expanded services. It’s a perennial problem and hard to counterbalance with mandates, but something that needs to be done to have a sustainable and proactive public service at a reasonable cost to taxpayers.

If the HVAC and lighting was already upgraded a few years ago they could easily cut some windows in and upgrade the telecom and accessibility issues while adding the addition. Think of the tens of millions of taxpayers money we’d save instead or creating a vanity project for SD57.

Letting the kids attend a larger school is the correct decision. It’ll enhance their education, with more opportunities, and offer better socialization and availability of extracurricular activities. The building could remain as a community hub, with some of the spaces leased to local “home-based” business or hobby entrepreneurs to offset building costs. If not materially changed it can always be switched back to a school in the future.
